Maybe I'm just not very creative... but how does the Revolution's unique controller lend itself to skateboarding games? I can't imagine the benefits of handheld motion detection when simulating something that is so foot-driven. It's a great controller for RPGs, FPSs, and tons of other stuff! But for this, I wonder.
Also, I think the Tony Hawk franchise has overstayed its welcome. I loved the first two games, but after that the concept just got old. The new games are really not very similar to the originals, and lack that "special something" that made the first ones so appealing. I can't put my finger on exactly what that something is. And this is just my opinion, anyway. I'm sure the newer games have plenty of fans too.

imagine treating the controller as a skateboard and having to toss and flip it in varying directions to perform tricks. while this will probably not be done, an obvious application would be using the controller for a balance meter.

Finally they admit that the series are going downhill!
That said, I wonder what kind of use they can give the revmote...

There's another possibility, as well. Tony Hawk has been the first online title on both the PS2 (launching before the modem even did, but supporting third-party modems) and the Nintendo DS (launching with Mario Kart DS). I wouldn't be surprised to see them do the same with the Revolution, being an online launch title alongside SSB and whatever else Nintendo can get online at launch.

That kind of reminds me of the old Skate Or Die on the NES, where you had the down hill race.
That could be fun.

Hahaha, oh man, I forgot about "Skate or Die". Now THERE's a videogame with a good name. Screw this "Pro-Skater" crap, if the game doesn't have an ultimatium in the damn title, I no longer want to play it. They should rename Mario to "Stomp on Motha F'n Goombas or Shiggy Will Cut Off Ya Damn Fingas"
