We haven't
been reporting on the internet's reaction to the new name for the Revolution Wii because, frankly, it's
all been a bunch of boner jokes and cries of torment at the completely ridiculous nature of the title. I can't speak for
everyone here at Revolution Fanboy, but I don't like it. As such, the link leads to a rather calm
article on the name change for the system and an analysis of several of the rumors that have tried so hard to come up
with an explanation for the name outside of Nintendo wanted it that way.
One step at a time, just one step at a time...

it's not that bad. kind of cute actually. simple, iconic, and after may 9th, we'll have something to associate it with
revolution was just a fantasy. id much rather it be named "ninteno v" though (being their fifth console. .. . . )

well it can still be called revolution fanboy because the Wii is still a revolution. So there is no need for a name change.

Most say that bad publicity is still good publicity, and in this case, I think it holds true. The writer disagrees, then cites Michael Jackson as his example, then takes a few steps back on himself admitting it was a bad argument. Anyways, more people are talking about the Wii than ever before, I think this is what Nintendo was going for, by keeping top of mind

OK
I think I am too much of an old fart to be a fanboy anymore, but I think the experience of someone whose is obsessed and their expectations are very different than those of 'the masses.' I think most people that read sites like this (myself included) would like a name like "Revolution" -- it speaks of the rebirth of Nintendo, and does so with rather gory imagery (hey -- revolutions are exciting but they are usually a bit messy).
I think it is exciting that Nintendo wants to bring in 'non gamers' with the new console (and has done so with the DS). I think that 'Revolution' would be a bit to agressive for that crowd who need a name that sounds more like something Apple would try to sell. The above is not a ringing endorsement of 'wii' but maybe it will grow on 'mii'

Maybe they changed title because they realized there was no any Revolution? Just new system with new games? And what will be with this site? Will it get new name?

Honestly, the Wii jokes are already becoming stale. That name has certainly grown on me.

The name has not grown on me, I hated it when I first heard it and I still hate it now. I can't believe what Nintendo have done.
No matter how you analyse the name change, it was a stupid idea. 'Revolution' has been in use for near on two years, it sums up what people think of this console, although it may be a little cynical for a 'Revolution' to be completely backwards compatible with everything ever released by Nintendo et all. They've made a serious marketing error; changing the name of an established product.
I sincerely hope this is a publicity, everything about it screams unprofessional, many people have called the logo "crisp" and "fresh", I call it boring and unimaginative. It looks like something I could do in Photoshop with the space of 2 minutes.

Nintendo is smart to think of the global impact of their name. Remember the pop group Aha(famous video=Take On Me)... they too specifically named their group to be easily pronounced by any global culture (not a theory, I heard it in an interview lo many years ago).

On the topic of the "Wee" and "Wii" jokes... Yeah, they're stale if you're actually making a mockery of it, but now I can say I joke about it lovingly. After it's still the same amount of awesome that it was before, right? Right.
It certainly does grow on you... A "wee" bit. ;D
And, off-topic, here's to the hope that Nintendo will pull through on the games, too.

At least make wiifanboy.com forward here... anyway, honestly, Wii isn't that bad a name, it could be better but I don't care. I talk about the Wii to people, I call it the Wii, I use it casually in conversation, it doesn't really sound that weird.
