There's a list of Wii launch games traveling through the myriad computers, routers, cables and robotic gnomes that comprise the Internet, though it mostly amounts to a bunch of good guesses as opposed to official confirmations. No doubt obtained from retailers and not publishers, the list suggests that the following games will be available when Nintendo unleashes their Wii:
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
- Wii Sports
- Red Steel
- Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
- Madden NFL 2007
- Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors
- Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
- Metal Slug Anthology
- Trauma Center: Second Opinion
- Elebits
- Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
- Blitz: The League
- Rayman Raving Rabbids
- SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab
- Disney/Pixar's Cars
Since most of these games were playable at E3, it's not too much of a stretch to think that they'd fall within the system's launch. However, this could be another case of that mysterious
launch window marketing nonsense messing with our calendars and drawing a distinction between games that launch on day one and games that release shortly afterwards.
Atlus told us specifically that
Trauma Center: Second Opinion was a "launch window" game and if Activision is serious about Tony Hawk,
Downhill Jam will be one too (because people, that game still needs a
lot of work).

I hope the Super Monkey Ball game works on the WiFi connection thing. I'd love to play some of those mini games over the net.

I'd really like the new Mario to be a launch title. But I guess I can wait, I'll be a little busy with Twilight Princess and MP3 anyways.

I think Zelda and Rayman are the only games confirmed for launch right now. I would also expect the less-anticipated 3rd party games to be there as well, like Cars and Spongebob, maybe Blitz since it's been out for a while.

SMGalaxy isn't a launch title!?! I figured it would be the game they use to push the new control method seeing as it seems pretty simple in that game.
So which ones are you going to buy at launch?
I'll be getting: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Wii Sports. I'll also be getting the GC version of TP.
I'm also interesting in Trauma Center but I'll have to read the reviews first.

I have no idea what the dragon quest game is like. Anybody care to fill me in? Oh, and on launch I'll be getting Zelda, Metroid, Wii Sports, and maybe Red Steel.

Interesting that Warioware: Smooth Moves isn't on that list. I talked to Abe-san about the game and he seemed to think he'd be out in time, especially considering a lot of the work in the game is done.
Makes me question the list, also pretty sure a rep told me 2007 on Metroid, but E3 eventually gets to you. Metroid does look pretty solid as is right now though.

Super Mario Galaxy isn't confirmed but Miyamoto said that he want's it to be a launch title. If the game isn't ready for release by then they wont, but they are aiming for that date, just no promises.

Is there going to be a Mario Kart for Wii? I was a bit disappointed with the GameCube edition after an amazing one on the N64. I hope the one for Wii will be good, assuming there is one.
I think they *need* to have a Mario title (besides sports) at the release.

What about excite truck? I hope that one is coming soon, It looks like a great arcade racer but it got to make use of Wifi otherwise its kinda useless. I don't wanna race against cars controlled by AI. Still besides the usual Nintendo games(and some others games), I'm really looking forward to that one.

I actually really enjoyed the Cube version. It had its shortcomings, but when you play two karts with four people who know how to play, it can be a great deal of fun.
I as well would like to have Super Mario Galaxy as a launch title, it looked like a lot of fun to play. Hopefully it'll stray away from Sunshine as much as possible

Simplicity of control doesn't mean it's any faster to develop.

He would like to get it ready to be a launch title. However if the game isn't ready it won't be there. Simple as that.

Shiro - I don't think he means it should be faster to develop, but that it would be a good game to show off the system (like Mario 64, for the N64, or Luigi's Mansion, for the GameCube).
That is, "they should finish it so that people can have a chance with the new control method," not "they should be able to finish it because the controls are simple."
