Several sources on the Intertron suggest that Miyamoto recently confirmed a StarFox game for the Wii...sort of. The article cited is an interview from the latest issue of Famitsu, wherein Shigeru Miyamoto suggested that a StarFox game (if Nintendo were to make one, mind you) could make some involving and intricate use of the Wiimote. A shocking revelation indeed, especially in the wake of a Virtual Console that is likely to feature the original, and dare we say good, StarFox titles. No offense to those that enjoy frolicking around on the ground in the company of dinosaurs, of course. If Nintendo takes Miyamoto's ideas and develops a full game (and they almost certainly will), we can only hope they keep the Fox's feet off the ground and well within the space opera house.
[Thanks Nikolai!]

I hope they include a multiplayer system similar to Assault's though, except online. I'd love to see massive death matches with teams of Arwings!

That would be pretty sweet. Multiplayer matches on the ground and in the sky with random strangers? I'm in.
I bet they'd make some great use of the (UNCONFIRMED) microphone in the Wiimote, what with team coordination and all. And come on, we all know the mic will be put in there.

They are "bloggers" so they are freed from the responsibilities of a reporter to only record facts :P:P:P

Just thought I'd say that the correct spelling of the series is "Star Fox." It's two words. :)
If there is to be a Wii Star Fox, I hope Nintendo has one of their own studios make it... Having other companies work on Star Fox hasn't fared so well...

I liked Prime, but to me Metroid will always be a 2D game. Retro did do a good job, it's a very polished game with excellent music, but I feel let down by the combat, especially in echoes where you're constantly forced to revert to the weak power beam. It just takes too long to kill things.

Retro Studios is a fully owned second party of Nintendo, so the Big N has a bit more control over what they do.
They didn't fully own Rare (owned 49% of their stock before selling it back to them), and relationships between the two companies soured...
And Namco is a third party.
But, I wouldn't say it's all bad when it comes to third-party-developed Nintendo titles. SEGA/Amusement Vision did a great job with F-ZERO GX/AX, I'd say.
And Capcom/Flagship has worked miracles with the Zelda franchise (Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, LttP port/Four Swords, and The Minish Cap).
And who could forget Square's work on Super Mario RPG?
It's just Fox and Co. that hasn't fared well outside of Nintendo's hands...

Honestly, I haven't enjoyed playing a Star Fox game since the original. I mean, what happened between it and Star Fox 64? The graphics got garish, the gameplay got even simpler, and the music isn't anywhere close to the first game. What do we have now?
DO A BARREL ROLL.
If they just focused on making a really good flight sim with realistic graphics and… talking animals, and went back to the music from the first game, then I'd start to take this franchise seriously.

Thanks Ludwig for making me feel like I'm not alone here. I *hated* dinosaurs and their retarded "voices" when they were introduced in StarFox Adventures. The game was the worst game I've ever played.

I liked the first two. I beat the GCN games and will never play them again. Keep Fox in the air, with just occasional sorties on a tank. Make the flight controls realistic (i.e. no shoulder-button barrel rolls, use the stick. Let me dive and climb for once too!)
I'm a fan of the Star Fox story, but the 3rd party developers beat it to a pulp just by adding Krystal, not to mention the dinos. Just make a military action game. Heck, it worked for Halo, and the first mission of Assault was the most fun...anyone else care to connect those?
