This game is on the top of my list for an upcoming title, but there is one thing that makes me wonder the length of it.
The shape of the worlds. The curve on the world just pictured above suggests that that stage will be small if you follow the circular shape. I hope that the levels are bigger than they appear to be in the screenies.
Eh, I don't know tho, just a thought.

Mullet - don't think of each of those planets as "levels" think of them more as "platforms." While Nintendo said this wasn't really representative of a game level, I could almost see the sort of potential for it to be a type of one. Lots of branching pathways. I played the demo twice (once during the developer event, once during my Nintendo booth tour) and there was a lot of stuff to explore. There's also that mysterious planet in the background.
I have no doubts the Miyamoto and company will have a great game for us, I'd sell my kidney to play it now.

Can anyone tell me what happened to Mario 128? Is that the result of it?

Mario 128 never happened. My theory is that the ideas for 128 were turned into Pikmin and Mario Sunshine. When people were not wow'd by it(I was, Pikmin is awesome), they downplayed the connection and pretended they were still holding 128 back.
I am exited about Mario Galaxy, but don’t think I will get it at launch. I am too eager to get Zelda, and Wii Sports. At $50 a piece, it will take a while to build my collection. Red Steel looks rentable, but not worth buying until the price drops to $20. WarioWare and Exite Truck look awesome too.

You know, along with all the small planets we've seen so far, there are most likely going to also be large "level-scale" planets.
Also, these screenshots were all just taken from the various videos on IGN, I'm pretty sure.

I'm guessing that Wii Sports will be either packaged with the Wii or sold at a reduced price (think $20-$30). As far as SMG, I don't think it's been confirmed as a launch title. Hopefully it will be, but I'll be there on launch day for TP and Metroid Prime 3.

the screenshots look pretty slick, I too am excited (not exited) for SMG. I'm glad to see they're in widescreen, it was sad when the cube lost it's digital video port.

Thanks tush, I honestly never noticed that I was constantly misspelling "excited". This has probably been going on forever.
I forgot about Metroid Prime 3. I will wait that one out. Metroid Prime (1) was awesome at first, and then down right irritating half way through. I never had the patience to finish it. It was the level design and constant backtracking that sucked the fun out of the game. The game play, control, and graphics were amazing, and I expect nothing less out of MP3. If they include a killer multiplayer mode (Hunters:Wii), I will be temped.
I couldn’t be more exCited about the widescreen too. Geist, and Mario Strikers are my favorite widescreen GC games. I hope that Nintendo makes a widescreen option mode mandatory for all games.

Can someone help me here?
I don't understand this game. I'll buy it, but i don't get why Mario is in space. Why is he on a bunch of little planets? Is Bowser gonna be in the game? How is Mario breathing in space? (oh yeah, it's fiction *goes and cries in the corner*)

Mario has been in space before, in some games he doesnt need to breath underwater too, hes a fat plumber that saves a princess, thats more unlikely than being in space =0
Plus space just seems to fit the whole star thing

I'm willing to bet money this game will NOT be a Wii launch title and will probobly not come out for over a year from now. This really sucks because I'd love to see Nintendo launch a brand new Mario title with their new console like they did back in the old days. Mario used to sell consoles.
I really dont understand why Nintendo seemed to have forgotten this. I know they said that if it wasnt at launch it would be at least 6 months after but you have to remember; Nintendo is flakey when it comes to launch dates. Anyways, I think this game looks amazing and I'm actually excited about the concept of Mario in space warping from small planet to planet. I could care less about there being huge open levels. Thats too much like Mario 64, and one of the thinks that kept Sunshine from being great was that it was too much like M64, only not as good.

Super Mario Galaxy will NOT be a launch title. I was at the developer event as well with the SSBB trailer and the Miyamoto Q&A. He said although he will try, Galaxy will most likely not be a launch title for the system (Metroid and Zelda is enough for the launch anyway, no need to throw out all the big guns at once). He did add, however, that it will definitely be out within the following six months after Wii's launch.
