GameTrailers has recently released a new trailer (in HD!) for the upcoming Trauma Center: Second Opinion for the Wii. A direct sequel to the cult-hit DS game, this iteration will make full use of the Wii controller to produce a realistic "operating room" feel.In the trailer, we can glean a few tidbits of information. Dr. Derek Stiles and his nurse, Angie, are obviously back for the ride; other characters and locations (Caduceus, Hope Hospital) also seem to remain largely unchanged. The game is now sporting a more cel-shaded look, most likely to prevent antsy players from feeling too uncomfortable during the procedures. The game screen seems to be a bit crowded, as there's no longer a second screen to display dialogue and other statistics, but we have no doubt Atlus is going to produce another top-notch game.
Enjoy the new footage; Trauma Center: Second Opinion is slated as a Wii launch title. Get psyched.
[Thanks, Nushio!]

See, this is where things get confusing for me... when I saw that trailer and those screens, it almost looked like a complete redux of the DS game (many of the text dialogue and the actual screens look exactly like parts of the DS game), but Atlus had mentioned at E3 that the new game has different characters entirely... Derek isn't even in it, in fact there are TWO characters, both new, that you'll get to play either in parallel or whatnot... There aren't any movies or screens of that, so I think that the current stuff we've seen is just them showing off the engine that they're going to USE for the new game, but not that those screens and videos are actually FROM the game, more like a presentation of it's direction... anyone else hear about this too?

only reason I even believe that btw is cause I think someone mentioned that the new protagonist of the new game has a completely different (although just as crazy) 'healing power' that is completely different from Derek's... so I don't think Derek is the protagonist for the second game... I could be wrong though, any thoughts?

I agree completely with Jackal, the trailers confused me [yet I admit I loved them].
I had also heard the lack of Angie and Stiles, and I was quite happy when I saw him. I actually had to pause it and re-read to confirm it was him.
I also heard the thing about another crazy power similar to Healing Touch.
I think, however, that you'll play as Stiles for a part of the game, possibly the intro, and then move on with someone else. Posibly because his Healing Touch fails and he goes off to muster the meaning of life, universe and everything without considering that the answer is indeed 42.

You win a free internet for somehow tying Trauma Center Wii to Hitchiker's guide to the galaxy. Use it wisely.

blah, the trailer doesn't so much of actual gameplay. I felt like I'd wasted time after watching it.... I'm hoping to see a real one as release gets closer.
Note: You should post the IGN list/description for the Wii launch. Really shows off the support/quality coming out for hte system.

Lets answer in order:
Jackal: I'm surprised as well, after reading my post. I'll keep the Internet for a while longer. You cant win the Internet often enough afterall.
Skyler: I wasnt convinced about Trauma Center until I finally decided to break out and buy the game. Its the storyline and gameplay what keeps me sucked in.
Student: Well, sorry for making ya waste time, it might not show actual gameplay, but it showed valuable stuff for me at least. It showed the art direction the game is taking.
Poet: That has been debunked. The Camara as well, along with the photoshopped flap. I read it elsewhere. Just dont get yer hopes up just yet.

I've read in an interview with Atlus (thewiire.com) that the new doctor will have a darker storyline than Derek's and you can alternate between them, or play as one through the game, then come back and play as the other. Once you get to the final stage with both doctors you can unlock additional stages.
Also, I read somewhere that it will have the same storyline with Derek as the DS version, but I can't find where I read this so I assume it was just someone speculating from the trailer. Though it is true that the screenshots do look similar to the story in the DS version.
