While the Wii has an impressive line-up of games coming its way, there isn't much in the way of RPGs. Sure, Square-Enix has announced Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles and Dragon Quest Swords, but neither are what we'd call classical role-playing experiences. But wait! There's hope!First off, on June 20th, Namco will unveil another game in their long-running Tales series. While this game is by no means confirmed for the Wii, there is a very suspicious "unannounced RPG" coming to the Wii from Namco-Bandai. Connect the dots?
Along similar lines, Square-Enix has registered the name "Friends of Mana" as part of their World of Mana series, which already includes Children of Mana for the DS and Dawn of Mana for the PS2. Will it be released for the Wii? C'mon, it could happen.
Maybe we're just grasping for straws, but both companies have shown strong support for the Wii. Would it be so massive a surprise if the Wii got some sword-slashing, magic missile-casting action?

Ok, my Squall cosplay was way better than that, and I've seen much better Cloud's. Although, he gets props for the sword.
I've actually got a lot a hope out for the new Crystal Chronicles. The GameCube one was a disappoint, but I could see the idea (console->handheld) working oh SO much better with the DS and most importantly with WIRELESS. Crystal Chronicles was a great concept, it just jumped the gun, I think it could be big on the Wii and DS.

"The GameCube one was a disappoint[sic]"
Crystal Chronicles was one of my favorite multiplayer games on the GC. The game wasn't great as a single player game, which I guess most people (erroneously) think of as "classic role playing experiences."

Well, Nintendo has some RPGs. If you use their franchises alone, you have...2. Pokémon and Mario. But there's a lot of variations.
But then there's the 2nd parties. Golden Sun...ok. Love the game. Baten Kaitos.
Now for 3rd parties. I guess Sega can make a Phantasy Star Online.
Then there's Square. We have Crystal Chronicles and Tactics. But unless the Final Fantasy XVI becomes completely multiplatform, we won't be getting the main games. I guess they can remake 1-6 again. But then there would be a gap. 7-13 won't probably be on the Wii. Hopes to XVI on. Or at least Crystal Chronicles being fully realised.
