First there was confirmed online gameplay, then there was only confirmed local multiplayer, now the rumor mill has churned out another juicy one in Super Swing Golf Pangya actually allowing for online play. Beloved by many in the past for its inclusion of online play, it would only be a natural progression for the game's leap to consoles to include multiplayer online also, but at the moment this can only be regarded as a rumor. Maybe someone should start an online petition for the game to include online play?To golf online, or not to golf online...

I just started playing PangYa last week, and I love it.
It would be sorely missed if PangYa for Wii didn't have online play (so what if it has a story more? A game like PangYa is meant to be played online against others!).
I seriously hope Tecmo/Ntreev reconsider the omission of online play.
Honestly, the issue of online-or-not is almost determining if I'll buy it or not. If it is online, I'll buy it in a heartbeat. If it's an offline-only affair, I may not buy it until the price drops.

As far as the DS is concerned Nintendo hasn't had many third-party titles that are taking advantage of online play just yet.
I suspect Nintendo is still developing it's online strategy for the Wii based on lessons learned from the DS. In fact I can't think of any Wii titles that have confirmed online play. Even Metroid 3, an obvious candidate for online multiplayer, will not support WiFi.
Being that Nintendo's hasn't made any announcements regarding online play for it's own launch titles, it may just be wishful thinking that a third-party launch title will support it.
From a business perspective, they may want to delay Pangya until Wii WiFi is ready; rather than be foreshadowed by the other amazing launch titles. Based on the sales of Crimson Skies for the first Xbox, being the first online title (thats fun to play) can be extremely lucrative.

That's not quite true.
In America, we only have Tony Hawk's American Sk8land and Lostmagic, but many more are on the way. Contact should be out next month, for example.
And in Japan, they have a few more than us. Bleach DS, developed by Treasure and published by SEGA, is one example.
For a list of WFC compatable DS games, look here:

Try out Battle Mode to take on others in Match Play, Stroke Play, and Party Play.

I don't know about launch titles, but Super Smash Bros Brawl and to a lesser extent Animal Crossing are both confirmed to be online.

BPM,
I didn't mean to imply that there weren't _any_ 3rd party online-enabled titles for the DS, just that they are pretty rare.
Given the lack of substantial information about Wii's Wifi setup at E3, I'd be willing to bet on a slow thrid-party adoption rate like the DS.
Not that I'm complaining mind you, I think DS WiFi is awesome and I'm glad Nintendo has taken the time to develop it slowly and methodically, rather than try to rush it along. Although the firend code stuff is annoying, now that they changed when I got my Lite. :)

Adrocknaphobia, you know you can transfer over your Wi-Fi info from one DS to another right? There's no need to get new friend codes (unless you sold your old DS, or it suffered MASSIVE damage).
Yes, third-party support for DS Wi-Fi is not as big as Nintendo's own support. YET. But if you look on that list, many have jumped into the Wi-Fi scene.
And while WE don't know what Wii's Wi-Fi capabilities will be like, doesn't mean developers don't know. :)
While the public is usually kept in the dark about the workings of stuff like this, the developers usually know everything. How else would they be able to make a game if they didn't know everything?

It's by Tecmo. They made DOA (where Kasumi, who is up there saying "I want to play on the Intarweb!" - great picture by the way - is from). Of course we do ;)
