It looks like Nintendo will be sticking with the power brick they provided with the GameCube, or something similarly sized. The grey color looks better than the black of the GameCube, I think, and regardless of it all, at least we need not worry that it will cause a hernia when trying to lift it. Thankfully, it looks like the cord is longer on the Wii's power supply, also.Honestly, I'm wondering why this didn't come up during E3. Also, why didn't I think of taking a picture of the Wii's power supply? With the recent Wiimote shots from the Spanish event and naughty peek under the flap, the Wii has been enjoying the attention of the paparazzi lately.

Yeah it's duck hunt (hence the Zapper shell at E3), but you're getting off topic.

I wouldn't be surprised if that IS a Cube power brick with a new color.

those pictures in the link in #1 show someone putting in the dvd on the drive, and a mockup GCN disk is on the table nearby, cant they just show us how the gcn disk slides in, that one video only showed the full sized disc...

Yeah, nintendo have a tendency to keep certain things like that the same or very similar. the DS's charger was a re-labelled GBA SP charger if im not mistaken

Shoot, them not having to redevelop a power supply helps keeps costs (and our cost) down, so I'm not complaining. I thought the power supply for the GC was great.

Very true, but then they went all batty and made a micro-specific power cable, then a ds lite specific power cable.

I love it when they share stuff like this... the SNES up through the gamecube (and it looks like the Wii as well) all use the same video cables... which is a great thing. I've got all of my consoles hooked up to my reciever in the basement, but when I feel like taking one into the bedroom, I never have to grab a console specific video adaptor... I just keep one hooked up all the time and attach the console I'm after. Very handy, if you're ever put in that situation. And replacements are super cheap, instead of having limited runs of crap proprietary cables (I'm looking at *you* mr. sega genesis... 15 bucks for a RF modulator).
I'm happy now.

If the Wii is nearly 1/4 the size of a 360, than why shouldn't the Wii power supply follow suit (in proportion to the 360's power supply)? Hopefully, this is just part of demo Wii's that will change when the "official" model comes out. I don't care THAT much, it's just if the Wii is gonna be less powerful than the other consoles, than the power supply should logically be smaller.

I wouldn't be worried about it. There is plenty of time for them to work on getting it smaller.

It doesn't look like something that will actually end up in the box. I thik they'll probably refine it before launch. I'm still curious about the DVD adapter, now that the front flap has been seen open and there was no slot for it.

I'm not too keen on the grey. I quite like the black, as it will suit any colour console, whereas grey has a tacky look in my opinion.
On the other hand, nobody really spends many hours fussing over the colour of the powerbrick which is almost always in hiding anyway.
I suppose that grey is preferable to the cream coloured power board.

Yeah Jay I'm with you on that DVD thing Nintendo announced like, 6 months ago. They haven't said a word about it for so long I'm worried that they forgot about it.
