Over in Germany, the magazine "Games Aktuell" has printed what appears to be the first Wii advertisement from Nintendo. It's quite obvious that despite the momentum Nintendo has, they need one hell of a marketing campaign to reach the desired non-gaming crowd. Is this a start?
The ad is amazingly simple, to the point of several accusations of "WTF LOL PHOTOSHOP". While many of us may have to ability to make such an ad, its simplicity still has a certain, ah,

I'm picturing myself as a non-gamer...thats..reading a gaming mag for some reason. Hmm well ok. Anyway. If I was a non gamer (Preferably a english gamer) the console would look interesting but the name would throw me way off. I would think that maybe this is a French console? Wee Wee!

Correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't that pic on the American Wii site? And if it is, wouldn't it be easy to just paste it and the logos on a white backdrop?
It seems simple. Too simple.

As a designer myself I can tell you, sometimes less is more, I do find it's simplicity atractive and the elements well placed, though the coloring and the letters below "Wii" seem kinda misplaced and don't go well with the rest, but these ads follow the same line of Wii, its clean and cool aspect.

If it is a German magazine, why are playing and believing in English?

You'd be surprised how much English we already have in the German language and therefore in all sorts of magazines.
I guess that's their slogan all over the world.
It might lose a bit if you translate it.
I'll have a look the Games Aktuell on Monday and see if that ad is really there.
