Yes, we know we will not hear official word on the price of the console until September, but this doesn't mean we aren't dying slowly inside waiting for that fateful day to come. Because of this, we are sometimes susceptible to rumors, even if Nintendo will probably shoot them down a day or two later. We're only human! The latest and greatest rumor applies to all you fine European gamers out there. See, Pro-G has received word from a spokesperson for Shopto.net that the final price for the console will be the insanely reasonable £149.99, which translates to $275.85 US, and will launch in October of this year. This information supposedly comes from Nintendo HQ itself (doesn't it always?) and, should it turn out to be true, will be quite the battle come this Christmas.

I don't care about the price. I just hope it launches in America and Europe in Black. Japan can have the other colors.

Nintendo confirmed that it would be less than 150 AMERICAN DOLLARS, and while I understand that prices aren't the same between regions, and Europe is often much more expensive, the idea that the difference would be that massive is ludacris from where I'm sitting.
I can see such a price divergence coming from some companies (::cough::Sony::cough), but not Nintendo, price is too important a factor for the Wii to jack it up THAT high...
I'd predict a 99.99 GBP price point for Europe.

No, they confirmed it would be less than or equal to $250 USD, which is $100 more than you are saying here. From that vantage point, 150 pounds doesn't seem terrible. That's about $250 + sales tax.

Consider the most readers here are American, I can say that we expcet console prices to be set a certain amount. Well, GB (and the rest of Europe) traditionally pay higher prices for their electronics - IT'S A FACT OF LIFE. At 150 pounds sterling, the Wii would be ALMOST one-third the cost of a PS3, which is consistent with the pricing we've heard from America (200-250 vs. 500/600 USD).
I'm all up for a $200 Wii price. We'll see soon enough.

Remember guys, game consoles are more expensive over there because of various things, including VAT.
If it's 149 pounds, it's no more than $199 here.

This post was made buy this site
"The player won't cost more than 25,000 yen, said Yoshihiro Mori, Nintendo's senior managing director, at a news conference in Osaka."Lifted straight from the article, that line says it all. This means that a launch price of $199 is very likely for us here in the states, something that is sure to bring a smile to many gamers' faces (as well as a blogger or two), with a $250 price ceiling. So if we see the console for $199, should we only expect the Wiimote, nunchuk attachment, and system in the package, or do you guys still think we could see Virtual Console "credits" bundled in as well as other items? What about if it releases for $250 or the ranges between?Press release can be found here.[Update: Cleared price mistake. Thanks Wari0!]...

white definetly is the sex, and £150 is great, people might mention the gamecubes launch price (roughly £140) and say that a low prive point doesnt always help, but the wii isnt just offering cut down specs with promisement of amazing gameplay, its offering a step in a new direction.
too many ps3's will sell on brand name alone, and the people who buy them as always will be outwardly brash, but secretly annoyed that they now have an extra pc with an obsolete blue-ray drive, and the fact that 360 owners are getting the same experience but soo much cheaper due to microsofts larger pockets.

Nintendo has traditionally launched all their consoles at 199 USD, I don't think it will be any different this time around. Now weather or not they sell one at 250 in some sort of bundle is still something to be thought about.

I dont think so...
Thats the same price as the DS Lite over here in the UK. 150 GBP is quite reasonable I would say.

I think $199 USD/149 GBP is the most likely price.
That said, I'm also expecting the Wii to include Wii Sports, so maybe they'll be a $250 USD version, as well.
Say...
$199 gets you a Wii, the remote, possibly the nunchaku attachment, and Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt preinstalled on the machine.
$249 gets you a Wii, two remotes, possibly two nunchaku attachments, and WiiSports (on DVD) in addition to Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt (preinstalled).
I'm still not sure whether or not Nintendo will include the nunchaku attachments. They add another layer of complexity to the package, but they're required for so many games that I would hope that they're included (or, at the very least, included with, say Metroid Prime 3).
As for colors, I really, really, really hope that they release that lime green Wii. I know I'm probably the only one that wants it, but that's okay, because half the reason I like it is because it's so different.
But honestly, the pessimist in me thinks that we'll just see it in black and white, and maybe a special edition "Revolution Red" for all the red-blooded (hehe) Nintendo fanboys who miss the old name. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for simplicity (I'm a big Apple fan), but you can do simple and clean and still be colorful.
If we see any other color, it'll probably be that light blue. I can see Nintendo not releasing as many colors with the Wii, simply because the controller makes it more complicated - not only do you have to release a matching controller, but you have to release a matching nunchaku, as well as any other attatchements. But maybe not - maybe all the nuncakus will just be white, and we'll just have to deal.
If it helps me get a lime Wii, I can deal. :D

Joshi, pretty sure they mentioned that the nunchuck would be included. When you think about it, several launch games require it, so they shouldn't make you go buy a (potentially) $20 attachment to play your launch lineup.
The Wii has got to launch at $199. I'd like to see a bundle with a game, SD card, extra controller setup, and possibly the VC controller sell for $249.
Man, 6 to 8 weeks and we'll have nearly nothing else to speculate. We'll know launch date, price, VC pricing, and the last details about the hardware. Can't wait.

I am living in Europe can I buy a wii from the states to work here. Does it require some different voltage or does it work anywhere on batteries. With current exchange rates it may be a better deal for me to buy there.
