This video is a mash up of promotional footage for Wii Sports Tennis and Fight Night Round 3 (we're assuming it's the Xbox 360 version in action). It's not the greatest compilation in the world, but might help you realize how a game like this could be done on the console. More or less, this is exactly what we had in mind for a boxing game.

I don't think that would be a good idea for a boxing game for the Wii. Not everyone is fit enough to be punching at a TV for 20 minutes straight. If Fight Night was made for the Wii. They would have to make this type of control optional.

You can use that argument for every Wii game. Not everyone is fit enough to play Wii Sports for 5 minutes.

Marc,
While I wholeheartedly agree with your statement to making the control scheme optional, I don't agree with the whole "it's tiring" idea behind controlling Wii games.
In truth, the sensitivity is set very high on most games, where just a small movement in reality causes a larger movement in the other (virtual) reality. So you might think throwing 8 hooks is going to be like actually swinging with all your might, it's actually a small flick of the wrist.

I can't wait for something like this. It's exactly why I am looking at joining the Wii60 movement. If it gets to tiring then you will start building stamina as your boxer does! Also the more movement I get when I am playing games the better, well sometimes. I'd still have the 360 to play sedentary games.

This is bullshit! The moves they are making are all seen in the Wii-Sports Tennis Promotion.

isint it more fun if it can tire? Moving you ass is nothing bad, try it sometime, anyway, i think htat wiimote should have 2 kinds of game, realistic and fun, couse this 2 things wii is bringing at highest level! things i want on wii: hokey, box, some serious sword based game(teken type), tenis(normal one)- in realistic way, hard to learn, like in real world(i know its anti wii type game)

Firstly, considering the stock footage avaliable, I think that was a really good mash-up. It got across the point and feel quite of the way the control would work quite accurately, all things considered. Kudos to the creator for making the best of what little he had.
As for the idea itself, this will definately happen within the Wii's lifespan. Just as Ubisoft stepped up to make the first third-party FPS game, someone will step up to make a boxing game. Heck, EA might simply be waiting for the first batch of games to come out so they can learn from their lesser but sellable series before bombing with a bigger one. Fight Night is, in my opinion, one of the only good lines of games in EAs sports repitorie; one that actually gets significantly updated with each time out, and one that has great care and time put into it. Same with NCAA Football.

David Hinkle,
oh yeah. I forgot that the Wii was sensitive (better not hurt it's feelings).
Thanks. :)
