Quite some time ago, Suda 51 announced he was developing an exclusive game for the Wii. As the rather insane mastermind behind the bizarre Killer 7, this was caused a noticeable stir...yet, at E3 2006, nothing was shown.Flash forward to today, where
Cel-shaded in a style similar to Killer 7, Heroes seems to share the assassination themes of its forebear. A man named "Travis Touchdown" uses a lightsaber to kill "Helter Skelter" and...well, maybe you should just take a peek yourselves. It's pretty insane.
Seriously, props to The Wiire for obtaining and hosting this video; we would have all our readers head over to their site to check it out. This is exciting, exciting stuff, and Heroes promises to be a HUGE game for the Wii. It's being developed by Grasshopper Manufacturer, and is tentatively scheduled for release in the summer of 2007.
[Update 1: The Wiire has posted a higher-resolution video for your viewing pleasure.]

Awesome video. Glad they kept the art style of Killer 7. Let's hope it's more action-oriented. It certainly looks that way from the trailer.

Man. If I am going to use explicitives and capital letters screaming around like an idiot, it would be best to maybe make sure my grammar and spelling was in check. =(
Anyway, I loved Killer7 and news of this game brings about great joy.

OMG this is the first time I've ever wanted a Wii game so badly. SSBB and Galaxy can take their time achieving greatness, but I want Heroes NOW!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I'm sorry, but that's how much I want this game. When I saw the video for Portal it was only an: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I just beat Killer 7 about a month ago and my god everything about it was pure genius. The story, the art style, the gameplay, the puzzles were a little on the easy side. But I noticed the trailer sort of focused on melee gameplay a lot... I hope we can use that beam sword freely.
Also, Travis Touchdown? Is that the same Travis in Killer 7? He sort of looks the same.
Oh and one last thing, the music, like Killer 7's, is VERY VERY sexy.

The high res video has been added. The better the quality, the cooler it looks. I'm not sure why they don't let you host it on other sites though.

The reason is they want all traffic directed to their site. They want to become well known through the net since they bagged the trailer first.

They are well known already. That's how they got the trailer in the first place.
The trailer is watermarked, so if a site distributes it, people will know where it came from. It's just a tradeoff between bandwidth used when users downloading it and traffic gained by other sites posting links.
As a web developer, I would appreciate the traffic more. But for marketing purposes, I think the trailer should be on as many sites as possible.

Actually I have seen that a lot of people don't know about the wiire because they keep asking how the wiire got it while g4tv and others didn't. Gamespot, Ign.com, gametrailers dozens of other videogame websites, magazines etc had no idea about this trailer.
Besides i have seen a lot of videogame people not know what the hell a watermark on a video is. They see ign.com videos with watermarks on them at youtube.com and wonder what site it came from.

I watched the trailer again and it seems like the premis (assassin killing all ranked higher than him) is really set for a fighting game. I hope that's not the case.

TheWiire.com: "The Wiire's server is currently down."
You can still watch the low res version of the trailer on YouTube:

I'm sure at one point they appreciated the extra traffic, but after Digg and del.ico.ous got a hold of the link, things turned sour.
Seems like they could have avoided this if they unloaded the trailer to other sites.

They had a torrent link for a reason. People should really use the torrent tool.

Yeah, bittorrent was really designed exactly for things like this.
However, it's difficult to set up, especially if you have a router or a firewall. Download speeds are pretty bad if you don't have the right ports open. And none of the port opening tutorials ever helped. It was only after my router's manufacture put up an official one that I got it to work.

"They've pulled the video and the related story!"
Interesting. The only reason they would do that is because a company told them to. Oh well, I got my hi res copy. And the YouTube video(s) still works.
And, btw, it seems my "I told you so" in #14 was incorrect. They, like a lot of sites including MySpace.com, had server problems due to power outages.
