Oh yes, young padawan -- a LucasArts rep confirmed the development of a Star Wars game for Wii (and some other next-gen platforms, but who cares?). We were pretty sure this was coming (we figured someone at LucasArts had seen the Wiimote, after all), but it's always nice to be proven right.The Wiire reports the good news breaking during a Q&A session at San Diego's Comic-Con, and the Wiimote was specifically mentioned, so it follows that the game will incorporate the controller in some sweet saber-swingin' action. Let's hope it's actually designed to work with the hypersensitive Wiimote and not just some lame patch they work up for Nintendo.
Now the real question is: will the Wiimote speaker churn out the zippy lightsaber sound effects? Anything less would be shenanigans.

Wiimote = Saber
Nunchuk (utilizing motion sensing) = force powers (push, pull, choke, lightning, etc.)
This would rock!!!

As long as this is an exclusive title for the Wii developed specifically for the Wiimote and not some rehashed port from a crappy PS3 game or something like that, it will sell MILLIONS!!!! MILLIONS and MILLIONS and MILLIONS. This will be a huge system seller. It's one thing to play a game where you can swing around a saber using some buttons on a controller, it's a whole different ballgame when you can physically swing the saber around yourself. This will sell MILLIONS!!!!!

I'm also thinking of 2P lightsaber duels... with the motion sensors, you wouldn't actually need to point at the screen, so you could really simulate a duel with a friend. Your Wiimote makes the lightsaber clash sound and vibrates, so you know when you make contact, and on screen you have Anakin vs. Obi-Wan on Mustafar, matching every one of your swings. It would be the greatest Star Wars toy ever made.

At the Comic-Con, when asked about developing for the Wii, he specifically said "You mean that thing that looks like a lightsaber?" and then followed up with yes, they'd be developing for the Wii.

Yeah, I think the design is just too good for them to pass up... but I definitely think the proof on this one will be (or won't be) in the pudding, i.e., Ima need to see and play it before I pass judgment.

All they need is a little colored plastic tube attachement for the wiimote and life is good.
AND... no more making lightsaber noises with my mouth while playing. Woohoo... I can sing "Sweet Caroline" or something else offensive when whuppin' up on my opponent.
Life is good.

Please get it right, please get it right, please get it right. Think if we repeat it enough times it'll come true?
A polished, responsive Star Wars title using this controller would be a total blast. Imagine something as sharp and FUN as Jedi Outcast that intelligently incorporated the wand... and the accelerometer in the nunchuck... and the speaker! No exaggeration - best game ever.
Please get it right... :)

Omg. This is the only reason I will be getting a Star Wars game- This looks like so MUCH fun! Totally buying a Wii. Not that I didn't want to in the first place. I'm a hard-ass nintendo fan. =] Hell yeah, $170 is going to rock my boat... and I thought my Xbox 360 was going to be cool!
