What we have here is a GC devkit (bottom) next to a Wii devkit. Look similar, right? Well of course they would, considering the Wii is just an extension of the GC hardware, but notice how the Wii devkit has the same 2 slots for memory cards? Could the Wii allow for you to use GC memory cards? Of course, we've known for quite some time that would be the case for the GC games, but could we perhaps use them to store Wii save data?
Come on they have to! It's not like they're Microsoft or something...
[Update: Weak. We overlooked the fact that it was well-known information that GC memory cards will work on the Wii. We apologize for overlooking such an old fact and have updated the post.]

Wii has 4 GC controller ports and 2 GC memory card ports under a flap on one side of the console.
We've only known this for about a year **rolls eyes**

And if you are suggesting Wii content will go on those cards (compared to the GC content they are intended for), I don't think they'll go that route. You already have the choice of internal memory, SD, thumbdrive, or external harddrive...
But now that I think of it, there's been rumors that some games will use the GC controllers, so I guess they could let you use other GC stuff, like the memory cards. How many megs do those hold?

Yup, last time I checked, Nintendo already confirmed the use of GC memory cards under that flap section with the controller ports.

This image, which has been around for a long time, is about as useful as this post, but considerably older.

i dont really think size and looks of dev kits matter but, that like comparing pc towers because they are all in a rectangle box with ports. But i haven't been in the industry to see how these things change. But if you found a format that works, why change it? :)

I don't think the people here are getting what they are trying to say (with the exception of vidGuy).
I think they want to know if you can save Wii game data on GCN memory cards.
