According to the September issue of Tips & Tricks, one Shigeru Miyamoto and Masahiro Sakurai have gone on record stating that they would both like to see other third-parties step up and ask to include their characters in the Smash Bros. experience. In citing that Kojima asked to have Snake involved in Super Smash Bros. Melee, the magazine says that the request was made too close to deadline, so they were unable to include him. Shiggy and Sakurai have said that they are close to including one other outside character, and commented that the most requested character is none other than Sega's mascot, and Mario's old rival, Sonic the Hedgehog.
Now, we've all heard about the April Fool's joke about Sonic being unlockable in SSBM, but with strong support of the new console from Sega with some launch title, one of which being an all-new Sonic adventure, we're inclined to say that this is likely to happen. Is the character they're in talks to include none other than the speedy, ring-obsessed Sonic?

Just bring all the Dreamcast games over to the Wii. Add the DC and Wii consoles as characters and then allow the DC to face the Wii in Smash Bros.
Actually I just want to see Jet Grind Radio and Space Channel 5 on the Wii... I am the ONLY ONE?

I'm confused on the whole Snake thing. Did the article officially announce that he will not be on SSBB? I thought that would be a bigger deal to most people.

It isn't going to be Sonic, but probably some other character from the Sonic Universe. Once Sonic is included, all Mario vs Sonic arguments would be rendered useless and be solved with SSBB, which would just kill the argument for future generations if Sonic and Mario are not even balanced in the game itself. If Sonic is included, they better make it so balanced between Sonic and Mario. Just my opinion.

I tend to not immediately believe a magazine that uses the godfosaken phrase "believe it" referring to Naruto.
And 6., it says Snake (and supposedly Sonic, but the Snake bit is a known fact) wasn't put into MELEE in 2001 because the request came when the game was near-final.

Also, I don't know what your smoking, Sid, but an American magazine talking about the American version of an anime is going to use the American version's American catchphrase. Got it? (American)

How about Viewtiful Joe? I'd love to see just one cel-shaded character in a Smash Bros. game. I'd also love to see a more obscure Street Fighter/Final Fight character thrown in the mix. Maybe Hugo or Mayor Haggar. I think that Capcom has enough love for Nintendo to throw them a character for this project. Look at all those "exclusive" titles they gave the GC.
