Got your grain of salt? Good, you're going to need it for this one.Games Asylum is reporting that a quote from Shigeru Miyamoto in N Gamer magazine reveals a sequel to Mario Paint in Marionette. The site purports that this was a term that floated around back in the GameCube days. It was supposedly going to be an internet service for the console.
The site also states that Shigeru Miyamoto is working on a new Wii game that will utilize the Wiimote's speaker. The game is supposedly focused on 4-player action where the speaker in the Wiimote will call out the name of the player who has the next turn.
Again, all of this is just speculation at this moment as there is no evidence to back up these claims. Anyone care to check out the issue of N Gamer magazine this is supposed to come from?

Except one problem. Shiggy clarified long ago that Marionette was about... you know... marionettes, not about Mario and not about the net. It was about puppets.

The Mario Paint and Marrionet don't sound quite as likely, but I recall that back when the "Revolution" controler was reveiled, there was alot of comments by Iwata that he was gonna push Shiggy to come up with a new franchise for the console. I haven't really seen anything like that yet, so I'm guessing if it's gonna show up, Sep. 14 would be an ample opportunity.

Sounds to me like they just took the quote from Nintendo (was it Iwata or Shiggy?) that gave examples about how the remote's speaker could be used. It was mentioned that the remote could speak the player's name or whisper information to that player if he or she held it up to an ear.
It's possibly Shiggy's doing something with that, but that's not much info to go on. Hopefully we'll see what the man himself has to say within the next few weeks.

not rumor, the game he's working on is in fact a 4 player game as described. he said it out his own mouth shortly after E3. marionette as he explained was a puppet game that would work perfect with the new controller. he said they haven't decided on proceeding with that project.

i wouldnt put much faith in it. Ngamer, when it was ngc, had very good avccuracy for their rumours - they were the first to tell everyone about zelda being for the wii as well and being postponed till november. Since it has become ngamer they have been a bit crap though - they have said that the controller wont have a rumble feature and it wont be able to detect 3d postion of the controller. the actual line about mario paint is just a short throwaway sentence, it hasnt come from a specific interview with mr miyamoto

Hehe...I just noticed that on Game Asylum's front page, they refer to this "information" as "titbits." I thought that was funny.

give vidguy a prize he's spot on.
This rumor is total bullshit, just respouting some things that have been on the books forever. Shiggy said specifically in an interview some 'possible uses' for the speaker would be to say, whisper a secret in a players ear so that a 4 player game (not online obviously) could actually distribute information the other 3 players would be unaware of, as well as calling out the name of the player that is supposed to grab the controller.
The mario paint rumor has been in existance for as long as it took the first Nintendo fan to realize the Wii would be the perfect home for the game (especially if it featured DS connectivity, touchscreen detailing anyone?)
