We know you Aussie and European gamers out there are feeling lost, wondering when exactly you'll be receiving the Wii. Well, we have some good news for you readers from down under, you're getting the Wii on the 7th of December. What's even better is that the December 7th launch date is in this calendar year! We're not from your neck of the woods, but according to our As for a price tag on the system, Aussie gamers are going to be shelling out big time for the Wii. With a SRP of $399.95 AUD, the conversion works out to about $300.00 US, which is a full $50 US more than Americans will be paying for the console. The console will also come bundled with Wii Sports.
Aussie gamers, let your voice be heard! Reasonable price or unnecessary gouging?

I think the price is frigging crazy!
Aussies pay 89 - 99 for games, and now we have to pay $400 for the wii?
You gotta be kidding me nintendo! I'm not going to buy one till the prices comes down... Kinda sucks I worked my arse off on my own Nintendo Wii website :

The price really doesn't look that bad when you realize the 10% GST is included in the pricetag. So that makes it only about USD$20 more than the US model.

Hey vidGuy that justification is ridiculous, do you think Americans don't pay tax on their consoles?
$399 is an insult but not that surprising, we always get screwed over here.

I'd just like to point out that we did get the DS lite before you Yanks.
The PSP is still going for around $400 AUD. Last I checked the 360 was $600 AUD. The PS3 is about $1000 AUD.
Nintendo consoles have always been about $300 at launch.
Personally. I don't really mind. I'd afford the Wii even if it was $1000. But that's just me. My friends have all heard the price and they are okay with it.
Whatever the price is on games... we naturally expect to be gouged. The same is true for any system. But... with the Wii being region free we might just save on pre-loaders and modchips and get games cheaper and earlier from overseas.

$399.95 AUD Australia Dollars = $453.652 NZD New Zealand Dollars.
That makes the Wii really not that much cheaper than a 360. This new stinks.
AND then to hear its news they are making a profit on the console. you think they could have just thrown in some HD technology or something and made it the same price as a 360 for all the money your not saving anyway.
As excited as I am, all the official revelations are somewhat disconserning(sp?).
I guess its time to save my pennies to try and afford this frikken thing now.
$453 + games at around $100 each.. for the wii & 2 games, its basically an xbox360. sheeesh.

New Zealand has lost is Nintendo distributor now, so who knows if it will even get an official launch? Lucky NZ has lax importing laws, Gameplanet will have it, or just import one from Oz.
I agree though;
Wii - $450
Controller - $100
2 x games - $180
Over $700, it may be 'cheap' for a next gen console but $800 is still $800. Hardly an impulse buy.
Roll on the homebrew through the SD slot....
