We were pleased to learn that Red Steel is actually a full length game (shocking!) and not just the same level we've seen dozens of times, with dozens of guys bouncing around a set and waving the Wiimote. Can't they find a woman for one of these? Where are your Frag Dolls now, Ubisoft? Or please, get the intense guy again. He was our favorite.
And while this new video is quite the sizzler, we're insulted by the fact that the actor left perfectly good sushi just sitting there in favor of picking the game back up. Find the pause button, son. It's all about priorities.
Keep going to check out the video.

You know, in the days when GUI-abolishment is becoming a reality, I'm kind of saddened to see that the in-game GUI is so conventional - and so vibrant. The atmosphere of the game seems to be one of the biggest draws for the game, and the eye-catching GUI seems to detract from that. This kind of game would have been perfectly suited for a system like King Kong, where the "check ammo" button brings out a voice-clip of the character saying something to the effect of "six clips left, I'm still good" or "shit, last clip." It's such a simple effect to put into the game, but it makes a world of difference.
Besides that though, the game looks way better in this video then it did in the past E3 demos: everything looks smooth and fast. Very impressive.

What GUI?? It only shows up when it has to, and is only in the small corner, quite invisible...
Cool that you can have two katanas! :D

The giant circular thing in the corner taking about a quarter of the screen-width real estate that happens to be bright, nearly flourescent, blue?

Yes, looks much better than it did...
I do wish there was some working alternative to the "move cursor to edge of screen to start turning" control scheme that seems to be the design norm for Wii FPS's so far.
Couldn't they use the D-pad to turn/look, the analog to strafe/move and the remote purely to aim? When I turn around, I don't lead with my arm, I lead with my head...

graphics id give an 8.5
sound efffects i'd give a 8.0
gameplay i'd give a 9.0 for the e3 version.
the finished version should be rated 9.5 with gameplay tho.

I kind of like the HUD myself. This build of the game really shows that the Wii can handle some intense stuff; it looks near on par with most in-game 360 stuff.
oe, they do have a better control scheme. It's actually been out for a while, but IGN has JUST decided to report on it this week. It's Metroid Prime 3's "expert" control mode. Go check it out, it's just like a PC FPS.

i just hope they dont have this sh*tty music in the final game, something more original would work better, otherwise, graphics and the speed the game runs at look great

Has anyone noticed that around the 40 second mark, it appears as though there is an expert mode for controls? It seems Metroid isn't the only game getting this treatment. Perhaps I'm wrong but that is some pretty quick strafing and looking if it isn't.

Thanks— yeah, it does look much better, but you can still tell there's an "invisible box," only with fuzzier edges... if that makes any sense. Hmm... anyway, I can't wait to play.

Hmm...
What impressed me the most in this was the fact that the guy could actually use chopsticks...correctly. >_>

In my opinion, the only real cool thing about this game is that you can hold your gun sideways. Gangsta style!
Beat THAT PS3!

It looks cool. It really does. And, yes, I'm excited about Red Steel. I just have one question: do they really expect me to hide behind my couch? 'Cause if they do, I'm gonna have to push it out from the wall. And do I have to bow my head? Does Nintendo have a new headband I strap on that'll get picked up by the wii sensorbar?
One other thing: Eat sushi near my $60-to-replace Wii remote? AAHHH!!!!!!!! Wii in one room, sushi in another.
Besides that, and the not-quite-up-to-par music, the game looks great.
Marc: AMEN! Can't hold your PS2 remote to the side and fight with it.
