We've seen tons of Mario and the more we see, the more we salivate for his new game Super Mario Galaxy. As an astronautical platformer (we made that up), the game was an absolute blast when we played it at E3. It ended up being our absolute favorite Wii title on-hand at the show. This latest trailer, in spectacular high definition, shows a lot of gameplay that those keen on Mushroom Kingdom's greatest hero might have seen before, but being in beautiful HD this time around, it's worth the possible revisit. Obviously, due to the video's resolution you'll have to head over to Game Trailers to check it out as we cannot embed it into the post as usual.

Wow.... just wow. I know it's just the same footage that we've been seeing since E3, but damn, is that ever gorgeous. It's such a shame that the Wii won't be HD, because that would look truly amazing.

That...didn't...look amazing?
Um, I have an Xbox360, hooked up to quite a nice TV (Bravia 40" LCD) and in all honesty? With the exception of *very few* titles, it looks just as busted as anything i've seen on a PC...really.
720p/HD does NOT automagically make crap textures and janky 3-D models look magically delicious.
If they are getting that kind of look and smoothness out of a "mere souped up Gamecube" (which I don't recall looking as graphically offensive as virtually every bejagged PS2 game out there...) then I really don't think Nintendo is losing any sleep.
And on that PS2 note: Is it just me, or has anyone noticed the trend in PS2 stuff recently (I think since Snake Eater pulled this trick off so well) to basically reduce the color palette and saturation in games to make them "look better"?

I think the game looks pretty good.
But seriously, people need to distinguish between HD and standard definition. That video is not even in HD. I'm pretty sure it was 480x720 or less, and last thing I remember, Gamecube can output in 480p, and I don't remember people calling that HD.
In any case, you and Gamespot are on my list for false advertising because Gamespot had their "HD" E3 videos, which were in 300x400 or 400x600 (I don't remember), not even Standard Definition. At least when IGN says HD, they literally mean 720p or more.
