Looks like everyone wants a piece of the Wii pie suddenly. First 7-Eleven got in the game with a giveaway, and now it's everyone's favorite stackable chip that's offering one hundred people a chance to play with a Wii. They're even pushing the fact that Nintendo has something for everyone, as the text on the giveaway page states, "This new gaming console from Nintendo is perfect for anyone and everyone -- no matter what age or skill level!" Indeed. Head on over and start filling out some forms. Play nice and read the rules first, though.Wii! Pringles giveaway

Interesting find, but I'll have my Wii well before either of their drawings, so I guess I'll leave the entries to people that could use one ;) (I'm a saint, I know, for giving you all that extra 1:23497813986 chance).
I'll tell my friend, though, who'll be a late adoptor.

Hey, there's always the idea of trading the extra one in for game credit. Not that we'd suggest such a thing.

Well I entered, but I don't like my chances and to have to wait so long to even find out is just mean.

Well, sepll cehck, I used to not know you could sell stuff for more on eBay. My first reaction to getting any games I don't want to play (I love get-rich-quick-schemes) is to trade them in for store credit. Now, new games (recently released kind of 'new') usually have a big gap, but for older games, even a year old unopened game if it's unpopular, there might not be much difference between trade-in and what you'd get on eBay or from a friend IRL. And the store is less hassle, and you can bonuses in some stores.
Now, of course, there would obviously be a huge price difference for a console less than a year old, but there's nothing wrong with trade-ins in general.
And besides, if I did get an extra Wii somehow, I'd probably give it to a friend or relative to spread the joy. It's just more fun playing with others, especially if they're well versed in the game too. And then they'd have their own Mii when they play mine ;)

Well, if I win one, I'm just gonna give it to my friend or something. I know he'd like one, but he's to much of an Xbox fan to get it himself.

I entered. And I'm just enough of a bad person that I'm thinking of entering every day (the rules say you can), even though that increases my chance about : that much. (That was representative out of 1,808,392,982 similar dots.)
[I wonder how much the Wii will go for on ebay.]

I think its a pretty smart marketing thing that nintedo has been doing with the Wii. There has been giveaways by ellen, pringles, 7-11, and who knows who else. Imagine all the grocery stores that sell pringles and think of all the people who will see that, and then all the people who will see TV ads, then all the people who will see ads in magazines and what not. It's an interesting strategy that extends the "fun for everyone" concept that they've been after.

Are you some kind of Gamestop/Eb Games mole. Who the hell would trade in a perfectly good console for "game credit"
Why not sell it instead. It would be brand spank'n new. What you're suggesting is worse than trading in a new game for tradein value...
You've gotta be in somebody's pocket...

I can see your point.. but I'm sure you wouldn't take the 80-100 dollar hit from selling it to gamestop/ebgames as used.. I just think it is absurd to even suggest it...
I love how my post was deleted. Seems kinda strange really... considering the author is the person to delete it. I'd love to hear the reasoning as to why it was deleted. I guess I'll send her an email...

Well, I imagine it would be pretty insulting for a blogger to be told they're "in someone's pocket"
And my point, I think, was that to many people "trading in" and "reselling" are pretty much synonymous, especially in casual conversation (we're all friends here, right?) even if you know the difference when you get to the actual act. It was just a casual suggestion to [resell on ebay|trade-in at store|trade for some other good and/or service or tokens to do so at a later time] instead of just [not entering|giving it away|whining about what a burden it is to have more consoles than I know what to do with].
Though, I may as well mention that I changed my mind, and will probably give it away like I said if I do win :P

While I understand how one could be insulted by the insinuation - I also think what I said was constructive and perhaps fostered mindfulness. Integrity is something you have even when it is called into question. Deleting posts questioning integrity definitely supports reason for the question. For some reason - the post was readded. I think that's rather interesting. The times stamps are a bit off but - I'm glad someone else is moderating.
As for trading and reselling.. I really don't think they are synonymous in any conversation especially between friends and if a friend suggested that I trade in a brand new console for game credit - his/her sanity/intelligence would be called into question.
I sent an email through the contact form and recieved no response. If it is an honest mistake - I'd like to know.
and yea... I'd definitely give it as a gift...

YES!! You've found me out!! I'm a MOLE for a store I didn't even MENTION!
Wait, no. I'm a blogger. And it was a humorous remark, kiddo. Let's take your brain on the slower trip, okay? Let's imagine that, one fine day AFTER you bought your very own Wii, you were magically handed another one! O frabjous day! Whatever shall we do with it? Why, we could give it to homeless children, or to mom (which is where mine would go, since she's already threatening to steal the one I'm buying), or to a friend. Or we could sell it on Ebay and price gauge some poor gamer. Or hey, wtf, why not trade it in for credit. i.e. there are many, many options, and the prior plan to buy one Wii should not prevent the dedicated Nintendo fan from entering a contest for a FREE Wii.
Apparently, however, that makes me some sort of SUPERSPY for EB Games. I wonder if there's a membership card I should have. Let me call my super-secret number and find out!
With much eye-rolling sarcasm,
Alisha

Wow. Thanks for the response. It is a shame you used the opportunity to undermine your own journalistic integrity rather than address the very real issue of in blog "hearts and mind" advertising. I think Joystiq did an article about passive advertising in blog comments within the last month. Maybe you should read it....
Anyway, you're definitely furthering the cause of bloggers everywhere. I'm sure your shining example inspires journalists and bloggers alike. Hell - I bet you win blogger of the year...
Have a nice weekend and good luck in life and in writing. I'm sure you'll succeed in every endeavor you attempt.
