For those of you out there who fill your hobby hours with finding new and innovative ways to bring Commodore 64 games to new platforms (like the DS), we're sorry. Epyx is trying to trump you. On the bright side, at least we can enjoy some old school action on the Virtual Console. Epyx was responsible for a long list of titles in the eighties, and since there's no confirmation on precisely what they'll be offering on the Virtual Console ... that's right, it's speculation time. What would you shell out five bucks for?If you need us, we'll be busy practicing our Hot Doggin' in anticipation of Winter Games.

I'm not that familiar with the C64, but I would love to play the (in)famous "M.U.L.E." if the company that made it (EA was it?) is also on board.
Besides, it'd be fun looking at retro games I actually haven't played before.

Amusing how Nintendo was so very much against emulation -- you'd think it was a criminal offense to merely simulate the hardware alone, the way they described it once upon a time...

Fortyseven,
Nintendo was never against emulation per se. They were against other people playing their games without paying for them. I doubt that stance has changed.

Author X: Perhaps the easiest (although technically illegal) way to play MULE the closest as it was intended to be played is to get a ROM image of the Atari 800 original, and play it on a Dreamcast emulator. The machine's four controller ports match up quite well.
MULE for Wii (which also, note, supports four players!) would be the most awesome thing in the universe. It might end reality, it would be so great.

There are enough emulators on PC. Why discover something, what was already discovered?

Anybody have a list of some decent C64 games? I had a Commodore Vic-20 when I was little, but I'm totally unfamiliar with the 64.
Tooth Invaders ftw

One popular genre from the C64 and Amstrad days was the isometric 3D adventure game. I remember playing some games like that but the titles are a blur. Alien 8 was one, there was a BatMan game... I am sure someone here will remember good examples of this genre.
What do you think we should be charged for these games? If it were up to me I would make them cheaper than NES because production values were a lot lower back then; in some cases one person created entire games.

Call me a video game dilettante, but I played California Games like it was going out of style back in the day. Winter Games was a non-factor for me - it might have been worth it, but California Games had my number from dusk ‘til dawn.
I was an *absolute* master at every one of the California Games events. I could totally burn you by doing some wicked footbag tricks, killing seagulls left and right, and I KNOW you wouldn't even step to my mastery of the BMX track. Fool, if you tried, there would be hypercolor blood all over the dance floor. My versatility in the pipe, asphalt or ocean, would rock you. I was the end all and be all to the flying disc; I hear it cries my name at night still. *sigh*
Nostalgia ahead, Captain!
Batten down the mizzen-masts! Step lively, me hearties, or we’ll all be pulled down into a merciless sea that only knows the G.I. Joe theme song, the superiority of the Dozers from Fraggle Rock and how to kill a man, 80’s style.

C64 for life! Man, I grew up on that thing. Long after everyone in the neighborhood had a Nintendo, I was still playing my C64 - complete with 4 hour load times. No kidding, I actually used to read books while waiting for the games to load. LOL!
Games I want to see from Epyx:
California Games
Summer/Winter Games
Championship Wresling
G.I. Joe
Impossible Mission
The Movie Monster Game (you could actually BE Godzilla!)
Pitstop
Street Sports
World Karate Championship
There are a million other great games I used to LOVE playing on my C64 from other folks. Games like:
Moon Patrol
Jungle Hunt
Hot Wheels
Chop Lifter
The Last Ninja
Airborne Commando
Ghost Busters
Clubhouse sports
Commando
Dark Castle
and on and on and on! Oh I have such fond memories!
If anyone wants to rememince, go here for a fairly thorough list of games:

All the olympic games were .. just about the best multiplayer ever. Every time we went over to my dads place we'd just all sit in front of his commedor and play those games for hours and hours.
California Games
Knights Games
Summer Games
Summer Games II
Winter Games
World Games
Caveman Ug Olympics
If they could get all those games on Virtual Console, or even make graphically revamped/ wii control specific reworks and release it into a package.. I'd definately pick it up.

BEACH HEAD II, Slimey's Mine, ALIENS, Bruce Lee, and a ton of others.
But...I can already play those on my cell phone, laptop/PC, and PDA. Not to mention I still HAVE my C64 with all associated games.
What will be the motivation offered by Nintendo? XBLA gives achievements and new features (some of which are totally NOT worth it).
Online multiplayer of Winter/Summer/California games would be totally sweet.

Hopefully they provide online mutliplayer..But even if they don't, I'm still glad on what they're offering. I missed out on a lot of snes, nes, and genesis games. I would love to get a chance to try them legally and with that nifty classic controller. That's my motivation.
