In sitting down with ABC News, Reggie Fils-Aime does the usual PR thing to promote the Wii, talking up the innovative features of the console and the company's goals to bring their product to people in all walks of life, hardcore gamers and those who do not traditionally play games alike, but more interestingly reveals that he will be on-hand at Nintendo's store in New York city to hand out consoles during launch (he says "a store in NYC," but it's safe to assume it'll be at Nintendo's store). Obviously, he makes no mention of needing to kick your ass and/or take your name to get your hands on a Wii, so we assume you'll need your check card, or the good old cash standard. He looks drunk off his gourd in that pic. Hopefully he didn't yell out racial slurs as some drunk celebs are wont to do. Mel, I'm looking in your direction...

This is an actual replica transcript of what I think Reggie said based on that picture:
"You wanna Wii? Somebo...everybody in the whole State of Japan, and Mexico of America wants a Wii, right? What's your name, Reggie, ha that's my name. Man, you look nice! Nice. What are we talking about?"
"The Wii, Mr. Fils-Aime."
"We what? We gonna do sumthin'? Me and you? We?"
"No, we're talking about Nintendo's new console, the Wii."
"It costs $35 dollars to make and we're selling it for $250. Don't tell Satoru that I told you, 'k buddy. Sssshhhhh! You and me, we, friends. You know? Buddies?"
"Mr. Fils-Aime maybe we should continue this interview at a different time? Tomorrow perhaps?"
"You're tomorrow. Ha, tomorrow."

I've always wanted to go to New York. It's only a flight across the ENTIRE UNITED STATES...
Why couldn't this happen in, say, California, to bring it closer? Maybe even... say... Seattle?

Ah, he wants to see the happy, smiling faces as he hands them their new consoles. And throw nonsensical insults smelling suspiciously of alcohol in their faces (I kid! I kid because I love!)
"You're tomorrow. Ha, tomorrow."
Your mom was tomorrow last night.

I'm a little concerned that he might kick my ass and take my name if I went to the store...
On a PR note, however, I think Reggie has made very few mistakes when promoting the Wii. He understands the marketing game, whether or not that will play out to Nintendo's advantage come a year from now will be anyone's guess but it's safe to say this Christmas will be a merry one for Nintendo.

If I was actually able to fly across the entire United States for that one momentous occasion, Reggie could take my name and kick my ass all he wants, as long as I go home with a Wii signed by Reggie.

Come on, give #3 a star! That was some high quality drunken dialogue!
The Nintendo World Store is about a block away from where I work, but I commute from NJ and since the 19th is a Sunday, I think I'd rather just get up early and head to the local Best Buy than endure the commute on a weekend. Ah, but to pass up such an event out of laziness... tough decision!

Was it just me or was it like reggie wrote the questions for the interviewer to ask him? Even his delivery of the questions made people watching feel like sony and microsoft were up to something but not reggie, reggie we could trust. 10 minute commercial for the Wii from ABC news? Sweet, I hope this airs or did air nation wide!
