Not thirty years ago, the question of who or what Nintendo is would have been answered "Nintendo? Who's he?" Several years later, Nintendo continues to shock gamers worldwide. Sure there have been some rough patches but with the success of the DS and the release of the Wii just around the corner, Nintendo could come full circle and then some.
News 4 Gamers posted a news segment that takes a look at Nintendo when the NES was first released. Gone is the banter that video games are the devil's work and you can't see a Jack Thompson for miles. It's just a great exploration of gaming at its popular birth.
See the video after the break and get ready to have tons and tons of flashbacks.

Man - I'm going to date myself here, but I feel sorry for you kids who grew up in the Nineties. Man, the 80's were so great. (Except for that narsty dude with the mullet talking about LEVEL 3 DASH 1, lol - that was the bad side of the 80s) lol
but seriously, this makes me wish for the days when nintendo ruled to come back once again. nintendo created video games in the 80s - i just think it sucks for microsoft to come around and clame it for their own (same with sony) I'd prefer Sega to rule over macroshaft and $ony.
PLEASE NINTENDO, RECLAIM YOUR THROWN - WEVE BEEN WAITING!!!
(i'll see all of you on level three dash one)

Tough questions like "What is Mario's surname?"
Heh, you could see Nintendo of America sweating over that question.

Did anyone else go a little speechless/breathless during the part where the camera flew by all those games on the shelves?

Ah, the days before Gamefaqs.
And yes, that is Bill O'Reilly hosting. He was followed by Deborah "Wait, she's *how* old?" Norville in the 90s.

Justin, the 80's WERE fantastic. Lived in 'em myself from 3 going on 4 to 13. It's so sad when younger kids miss out on a phenomenon. Sometimes you just had to be there.
John from Msg #15, YES, I DID get a charge out of seeing those old gameboxes. Look at how golden & valuable Zelda I looked.
But don't worry. Nintendo's coming for that crown one more time & will win it with the Wii. That's a GyahRonTEE!
The kids will witness their OWN phenomenon like we did with this Wii.
And agree with you on that Sega OVER MS & Sony comment as well. I miss them.
