International news magazine The Economist is not where we expected to find the Wii. After all, The Economist is where we find out about the invisible rich in the U.K. and Macedonia's consideration for membership in the European Union. It's serious news and our beloved Wii is, after all, about serious fun. But if Nintendo succeeds with the their plan for the new console, it will affect a global market that will only grow with that success, and when it's big business news, The Economist is there. The quick look over Nintendo's goals for the Wii -- and how they compare to the DS - offers those of us who live and breathe gaming daily an interesting look from the outside of the market. But the long and short of it is that Nintendo doesn't see the point of being crowned king of a shrinking market when the whole world is out there. And if their old-but-new viral marketing (hey, try this!) strategy works, the gaming market will be stretched, perhaps even broken wide open. And everyone is watching to see what happens. In that, dear readers, we are not alone.

I'd check your spelling next time you go on a rant about how stupid people are.

You're ranting to the wrong people, cubeboy. And please, some punctuation would be nice.
And who cares about opinions, even if they're positive? I don't care if nobody but my friends and I buy a wii.
Let's not get involved in this popularity war. We love this system ( for our own fanboy-ish reasons ) and that's all that matters.
Please excuse my english.

You have to be joking. How can you live with yourself, knowing nobody can understand what you're trying to say?

Yes, we're all getting a Wii. That's why the site is "Wii Fanboy".
Nobody is saying your arguments are stupid - in fact, if we could read them, we'd probably agree. But it's people like you that make the Sony and MS fans laugh at us...because you sound like you're 7 years old.
Unfortunately, people don't remember the smart fanboys, they remember your grammar-killing rants. Maybe you're top of the class, or maybe you're a toddler. But for all our sakes, please learn to type correctly. It only takes a minute extra, and it will make not just you, but every Nintendo fanboy look better.
Thank you.

Woah there, my friend. =) Spelling. Punctuation. Capitilization.. anyway, let's stop criticizing cubeboy for now and stay on the topic at hand.
Sometimes I can't help but feel a little worried when people emphasize that the Wii is really for non-gamers, old people, and the like. I'm somewhat of a more hardcore gamer, and I tend to also appreciate lengthy games with complicated controls if needs be. However, while Nintendo may mention these goals, I think the system will eventually deliver to those hardcore gamers anyway, not to mention that right from the start it will already have Zelda and Twilight Princess. So we have those, and some pretty kickass party games too.. a winning situation.

My apologies: I meant Red Steel and Twilight Princess. Sorry for the double-post.
