Joystiq has managed to confirm with Wal-Mart corporate that a midnight Wii launch is definitely happening and much of what Joystiq previously reported was true. Corporate says they are not currently accepting online pre-orders due to the demand for the console. So, we suggest you show up as early as you can to your Wal-Mart and get a ticket Saturday night at 10pm.

How early is everyone showing up? I arrived at 9pm the night before the 360 launch and was 30th in line. I walked around the block to Circuit City and was 2nd.
I will show up at about noon on Sat. if no one's there, i'll leave and come back, or call every hour until a line has formed. I know there are more Wii's at launch, but I guess i'm after bragging rights.

I don't know about any Canadian resellers and their plans. Futureshop and Best Buy are owned by the same company so I would imagine they are going to be skipping preorders. I might call up Best Buy next week and see what their plans are for the Calgary area.

@friedgreenmushrooms... You'd think that Future Shop would do something at least, wouldn't you... it'll easily be their biggest week in recent memory, methinks. Considering that every Wal-Mart in the states, no matter how rural, is doing BOTH a PS3 and Wii midnight launch, you'd think that at least ours in cities of 100k or more people should do something, or I will be very disappointed.

Anyone know what the info is about midnight launches for the other chains (like Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, EB games, Gamestop...named as many as I can think of lol)? I got to wait in line for one and I want to get an idea on what stores are actually doing midnight openings for the system. Any info on those chains would be great (I'm from US btw).

Red Steel. Available 11/16. Will anyone be buying it before the actual Wii launch? What other games will be available before the actual console launch?
