When we were having our way with the Wii all weekend, Joystiq's Kyle Orland poured over the Wii's manuals to locate their hidden secrets. In pouring over all of the pages in the manual, he stumbled upon something very interesting on page 39. There, the manual talks about the ability to "copy and delete data found on the Wii System Memory and SD cards." Problem is, he couldn't find any way to actually perform the task through the Wii. The options just weren't there in the Wii memory management screen.
Kyle has contacted Nintendo and as soon as he receives a response, we'll be sure to let you know what they say.

Guys, I asked this in reference to another post, but I'd really like to know -- how did you get the Wii to display on a Dell monitor? I've been trying to work out such a solution for a while, so I don't have to buy a television.
Does that monitor have composite/component inputs, or are you converting the signal somehow?
Hope you can answer! Thank you very much.

Have you guys tried looking under the Wii option and looking around? I mean Nintendo could have catagorized the SD card under the Wii option, since it is memory for the Wii after all.

The Dell monitor has component video inputs. See here: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4335

Half-Reasonable Person, I have that monitor - it's a Dell 2405FPW. 24 inch, 1920x1200 goodness. It has no less than five inputs: DVI, VGA, Component, Composite and S-Video. So I'll have no problems connecting my Wii.
Still no news of a VGA cable from Nintendo, so unfortunately if you want 480p through a monitor that only has DVI and VGA, you'll need the Component cable (about £18), and a Component to VGA converter box (about £40).

I knew this non-news would make it to this site. According to Kyle's descriptions, he is using SD cards that are either empty or have pictures on them. Not one of the SD cards he has tried contains any Wii data... so why would he expect the Wii to allow him to "copy and delete" from the SD card? There's NO DATA TO COPY OR DELETE! He needs to go into a game and try to save to an SD card inside of the save utility first. Then there should be no problem.

"copy and delete data found on the Wii System Memory and SD cards."
I don't have the system or manual yet, but is that word for word what it says? If so, one way to read that sentence is that it doesn't say anything about saving on SD cards, or taking saves on system memory and placing it on SD cards. It just says you can copy and delete things on SD cards. That might just mean you can copy something so that you have two if it on one card.
Just throwing it out there...

Thanks for your replies about the monitor. I looked it up on Dell's site after impulsively posting my question, and found the monitors with component inputs. Not bad... but if I'm going to buy another display, at that price it might as well be a television.
Dom, can you recommend a converter? There are a number of component to VGA (or even better, component to DVI, which would let me use my Apple Cinema Display) adapters, but it's hard to judge the reliability of the brands, and some of them are quite expensive (like this http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/40-886.html ... again, might as well buy a television for that price!)
Thanks again.
