Unsatisfied with the flimsy cardboard sleeve cradling the pack-in Wii Sports? Then make your own, like reader Tim. Just grab any of the premade sleeves floating around in the intertubes (Tim suggests The Cover Project), print it out, and find a white DVD sleeve. If you picked up one of the demo discs offered not long ago at various retailers, you're set -- and Wii Sports can enjoy a place of honor next to your other Wii games, instead of being relegated to the dark and dusty interior of your TV stand.Haven't seen the original sleeve for Wii Sports, the one included with the console? Never fear, because we've included a few shots after the jump. We must say, the DIY case is much preferable. What gives, Nintendo? We didn't rate a real plastic box? Absolute shenanigans. If you're sticking with the original sleeve (why would you?), try not to spill anything on it. Wet cardboard is no one's friend.

[Thanks, Tim!]

That is quite dissapointing that Nintendo would scrimp on something so small. I wonder did the design the packaging for the Wii before they decided to ship a game with it, and therefore didn't have room to add the box in.

I forgot who, but Wii Sports is listed on a site for release for January -- $49.99. I think it was at Gamestop.

Where could I find a case if I don't have that demo thing? I want to do this, I don't like that puny little cardboard!

I think they scrimped on the packaging because that's all that would fit in the box. It's pretty tight in there, and the Wii already has a library of literature with it.

Thanks! The template from "The Cover Project" worked flawlessly. Just had to cut it down a tad with a paper cutter. You'd never know that it wasn't an actual commercial box.

I just swapped a normal black box for a white one in my movie collection and used the white one for the wii.
If you are really desperate for a white dvd box. Hit the bargin bin at your local dvd store.

If you can't find any remaining demo discs / DVD trailers at your local retailers, you can get white Wii cases from Nintendo's online store. Current prices are $1.50 each, 5 for $6.99, or 10 for $12.99. You might as well tack one on to that order you're placing for component cables and an extra sensor bar you can take to your parents' house over the holidays after you glued your included one to your TV.

I ordered from a dvd case seller online, for it for like 4 bucks shipped, not too bad I guess. Though I would have rather gotten a Wii one if its really the same, oh well.

This is awesome -- I was planning to work one of these up, but this looks way nicer than what I would have come up with. Now I'll just have to steal one of my daughter's white Baby Einstein DVD cases :)

Glad you like the solution, guys!
Capt. Castellanos,
I prefer the first one posted (Nov. 17th) because the back of the box relates to Wii Sports. The newer one references the Mii Channels and Wii Play, etc.

I was @ Target today looking for a Classic Controller.
They had some demo discs for "Living The Game with Wii and Activision". It's a white case that has Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Tony Hawk's Downhill on the cover.
Best thing: it only cost $.01 (for inventory control I suppose)
It's not THE exact case - but it's white and only costs a penny!

Jaan, IGN AU has posted the boxes for Wii Sports, Play and TP, and all of them are in your typical DVD case with that nice iPod white.
