Using a variety of exploits, the homebrew community has finally struck gold and figured out how to get it all going on the Wii. With a SD card, Action Replay for the GameCube and SD card adapter for the GameCube, one can plug in their card into a computer, use some of that homebrew magic and get GameCube homebrew running on the console. Of course, this could very well be a problem for Nintendo if folks use this exploit to run emulators (they will and, more than likely, are), bypassing the Virtual Console to play any ROM they wish.[Thanks Pieter!]

Considering how cheap the VC titles are and how quick and painless the download process is, the only reason I might consider this is so I could play games that hadn't been released on the VC yet.

ROMs or not, the Virtual Console is still going to be offering game updates with possible online play and even updated graphics in certain cases possibly. Those things alone make the Virtual Console still the obvious choice.

That's fine... keep coming up with all this crap. Then, once Nintendo's found out all the security problems, THEN they'll issue the Wii firmware update that breaks all of it, and gives you your free Opera browser.
Take that, suckas!

The VC games are way overpriced IMO. Hopefully this might make nintendo reduce the price of them to compete.

wiiboyuk101, Nintendo have already said the games are going to be provided as-is, with no network features or upgrades.

Anything that allows homebrew programs to run on a console is good news, Regardless of how you feel about piracy. It just makes the console more useful, and more fun.

I agree with 20XX.
Lately the only use that my ps2 is getting is when I watch some episodes of Dexter in xvid. SMS (ps2 homebrew media player), while not as awesome as xbmc, gets the job done with network streaming and progressive scan support. :)

"nintendo isnt stupid like sony"
But at least both Nintendo and Sony aren't stupid like you! What's with your grammar?
Fuck Nintendo. If they want to charge obscene prices for (S)NES and Genesis games, they deserve this. If prices were more like
NES - $1
SNES/Genesis - $3
N64 - $7
then that would be a good deal. For right now, i'm not going to pay $5, and $8 for games with no enhanced features. $10 seems fair for the N64 games. You guys all act like you've never downloaded an mp3 before.

Considering the $20 price of several compilations, such as Gamecube's Sonic Mega Collection or the 30-game PS2 Sega Genesis Collection (which includes Sonic 1 & 2, Golden Axe 1-3, Columns, Ecco the Dolphin and sequels, Altered Beast, and the list goes on) the VC games don't seem that cheap to me. I agree they're convenient, but for less than the price of three, you can get thirty for another console. I'd even venture to say there'd be a Gamecube version of the Genesis Collection if it weren't for the VC.

"is there an n64 and GAMECUBE emulator for this?"
Uhhhm.....it's an exploit that runs GAMECUBE homebrew.....
Anyhoot, the tragic thing about this is the fact the Wii has the Virtual Console. If it wasn't for that fact, this exploit would be getting more attention because of Gamecube homebrew still has room to go. Sadly, ever since this exploit was announced I've seen no interest in that, only emulators and potential piracy.
