In the embedded video, which is brought to us courtesy of Epileptic Gaming in an attempt to debunk statements made by IGN claiming that "skill is a major factor and if you're good, you will bowl strikes; if you're not so good, you'll be much more prone to hit the gutter." The video proves that IGN overstated things a bit and the game doesn't rely on your skills as a real life bowler to dictate skill in-game.

With Wii Sports being nothing but a collection of glorified tech demos with sad graphics, I was expecting this video to show how bizarre or incredibly simple gestures could be used to "cheat" the game and get consistent strikes. However, all this video shows is that the sensor bar isn't used (obvious to anyone once they have manually set the bowler's position) and that the 14 pound weight difference between a bowling ball and wiimote allow other parts of your body to move more freely during a swing. *YAWN* Shocking.

That video is edited. Half the time the camera is looking at the TV, he's getting spares. But whenever the camera isn't actually looking at the screen, he's magically getting strikes. It's especially telling that the Strike banner isn't saying "Double," "Turkey," or "Fourth" on every throw-- it's just repeated footage of him getting a strike once or twice.

OBVIOUSLY it's fake, did you expect them to really be able to play Wii Sports Bowling while in line at the liquor store? Seriously?

Why is this supposed to be blog-worthy? Lame videos should be shunned, not spotlighted.

The video doesn't "prove" anything other than the author's gullability. The people that made this video made it as a joke, and only a fool would publish it thinkning it was real.

Wii Bowling is one of my favorites but I've got to say that it's not that easy. I think Brian is right, doctored video.

I'll add to that. Look at the shot where the camera is looking through the window. He gets a spare on-camera for us to see. Not hard.
Then he steps in *front* of the camera and claims he got a strike. Watching the footage closely, you can tell that he got at most nine pins (he missed the one on the far right), but we hear "Nice throw" dubbed over the footage to help us believe that it's actually a strike. We know it's dubbed because (1) the one time we can hear the TV on-camera, it's actually very quiet, and (2) we're looking through a window. They want us to trust that they matched the correct footage to the correct shot, but why would we trust them, when they're trying to prove that Nintendo's new game console is a bust?
For that matter, why is Wii Fanboy posting this video? Anyone who's actually *played* the game knows that strikes are not that easy to get.

yeh, i still don't understand how some people still think bowling, or any of the wii sports games for that matter, actually use the sensor bar...
having said that, i think this video was made to be funny, and not to actually portray wii sports bowling as an overly simple game.

I looked at the spot you were refering to where he steps in front of the camera and says strike, it is kind of difficult to see but before he actually steps in you can see that the 10 pin moves and is in the motion of falling backwards. You can also see that its knocked down in the replays when the guy moves out of the way.
Some of the stuff they were doing is obviously exaggerated, who doesn't exaggerate to make their point?
The point they are making, that you don't need to be skillful in actual bowling to be good at Wii Bowling is TRUE. My friend's girlfriend can't bowl over a 50 in real life, but she averages in the 210-220's. A friend of mine who can barely bowl a 100 just flicks his wrist and has a "Pro" ranking.
Wii bowling is a very easy to learn and master, and you don't need to be any good at real bowling.

The guys that pieced this video together are phonies! I Bowl between a 140 and 160 in Real Life and although I get a MUCH better score playing Wii sports Bowling ( 180-190 ) it's still picking up the natural curve I have. Point being, it's much more realistic than the video suggests and these guys are just putting the Wii down because they're upset SONY didn't supply them with enough over priced PS3's this Christmass... Sob.. Sob...
