Nintendo promised something like ten a month, but at this rate, we'll be seeing sixteen. Nintendo dropped yet another four vintage goodies on us at noon EST today, and here are the pickings:
- Ice Hockey (NES) - a much-loved hockey sim that, unfortunately, is beginning to show its age. Where is the ever-revered NHL '94 for SNES?
- Gunstar Heroes (Sega Genesis) - If Jack Thompson had been as retarded in 1993 as he is now, he'd certainly have gone after this game. Much-lauded for its frenetic and gleeful gut-ripping gameplay, GH is considered one of Sega's best games. Check this 2-D shooter out.
- Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (Sega Genesis) - some beans are falling, or something, and you have to match them...whatever. We got Columns last week, didn't we?
- Alien Crush (TG-16) - a rather odd pinball-sim involving scary aliens with a multitude of eyes. If you're into the pinball scene, go for it, if not, settle for some extraterrestrial orange soda. (Zing!)
We still, of course, anxiously await the previous announced
Toe Jam and Earl. We
wantsssss it!

My guess is that america and the UK get different libraries, because I haven't seen jackshit that's new in the shop channel.
BECAUSE I SERIOUSLY WANT GUNSTAR HEROES.

After playing Twilight Princess I'm anxiously wanting to play the NES and SNES versions of Zelda again and I've sold my SNES a while ago. Would be nice to see link to the past, Legend of Zelda 2, N64's Majora Mask, etc show up soon.

Toe Jam and Earl FTW!!!!!! I can't wait for that one. And Battletoads would be cool too. My wife and I would rock out with those games. And Lunar Pool provided some laugh til you fart good times too....
Incidentally, what's everyone using for controllers on the VC games? I ran across 2 of the Wii Classic controllers, but not sure if I need them. May keep one and get a Wavebird to match. will that work since I want to pick up some Gamecube games too?

Mean Bean Machine was the "Americanized" version of the original Puyo-Puyo. Personally I'd rather have the Japanese one.

@5 - Bad Mojo -Agree with Toe Jam & Earl... my lifes mission is to finaly beat that game!
Also get wavebirds if you are going to get some gamecube games. If you have never played any gamecube. I STRONGLY recomend Super Smash Bros. Mele!! The wavebird is the 2nd best controler. 1st is the Wiimote of course! :)

@8
Thanks for the response. I've actually had my eye on more than a few GC games (Eternal Darkness and Rogue Squadron) so I can't wait for the gaming goodness that is Nintendo to grace my space.
So do I really need the Wii Classic at all then for VC games? Or will 2 Wavebirds cover me?
Also, is there a "complete" list of Virtual console games that are going to be released and I missed it? Need to see what else may be on the horizon...

Excuse me? Puyo Pop (Dr. Robotnick) is about 5 bajillion times better than Columns, Tetris, Dr. Mario, or Puzzle League.

In all honesty, Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is probably the best Puyo that there is. (I mean, obviously, other than the Orig Jap version of the same game)
It's just plain, simple, and the speed increases feel just right.
Nowadays you seem to have to play forever to get to that "Frantic Super Speed" point.
And Minime's right.. Puyo kick's tetris's ass.. In Multiplayer..

@9 I just got F-Zero (never played it before) I relized that its actualy very hard to hit the X and Y buttons on the gamecube controler... especialy for something like Street Fighter.. it would prob be near impossible to compete with someone who has a classic controller if you had a gamecube. I allready have 4 gamecube controllers so ill prob pick up 1 more classic controller... i heard that some games will only let you use the classic.
I found this website .... seems pretty good... for VC games released and comming soon...
http://www.meanmachinesmag.co.uk/wii/coming_soon.php
I would hope that everything Europe has we will get... they have Donkey Kong Country :\

Lame! I'm sick of waiting around for the good VC games. What's the deal, Nintendo? I reeealy wanna give you money for some of the promised games like A Link to the Past and Super Metroid, but since you're dragging this out, I can't!
It just feels like Nintendo is squandering a great money-making opportunity with the VC, due to a very lackluster roundup of games at launch. There are dozens of games that I'd be willing to buy, but I may never even see half of them over the life of the console. And I was so excited about the VC, too.
Yeah, and no Super Mario Brothers? WTF...
