Using a homebrew app called GlovePie, which allows the Wiimote to synch with a PC for all kinds of nifty stuff, a blogger by the name of coulston used it to make Google Earth that much cooler. Adding tilt functionality, as well as zooming capabilities, from the look of it in action, available via the embedded video after the jump, the Wiimote is suited perfectly.

I guess this is why Google Earth was specifically featured in the Wii.com video about the Internet channel. I think the Wii Opera browser will be the be the better of the console browsers. Hopefully it'll be USB keyboard compatible.

It would seem that someone has already written a GlovePIE script that allows for lightsaber sounds through the wiimote itself..

I hope enough people at Nintendo see this and make a globe channel for the wii.

Hm, that's nifty. What would add to the niftyness is first getting it to work with the sensor bar. Then have it where if you move the wiimote towards the sensor it zooms in, and vice versa. I would like that :)
