What started as a rumor has been confirmed to be true: Madden 07 for the Wii uses the Forecast Channel to determine weather for games. That's pretty awesome, if you ask us, as we're from Philly and are very much into sports. Adding another dynamic such as this to the experience can only improve our love for the title as it destroys ceilings and shoots off into the stratosphere. It's all pretty easy, asking that you only set the game to read from the system client and upon starting the game, you'll see your current default city's weather in-game. Cool for us, as weather in Philly ranges, but if you're in some place such as Seattle, well it could get kind of boring after you've played your 8th or so game in a row with rain. Obviously, if your team plays in a dome, this doesn't apply ...
[Thanks Brandon!]
[Update: Looks like we were all fooled! This indeed is not the case and it turns out the person who confirmed this was just lucky the first go around and found it to not consistently work. We apologize for the error.]

From GoNintendo's comments:
"Oops… After trying a few more cities out, it seems I was just really lucky when I first tested it. I set it back to my city (where it isn’t snowing) and set up another game and it was snowing. Sorry, for jumping to conclusions… I thought I had done enough tests to come to a good conclusion but I guess not. Oh well, maybe we will see the real-time weather feature in the next Madden."

That is pretty dang cool. I wonder if it only queries the weather client at the beginning of the game. Say for instance if it's currently raining outside and you start a game in Madden, obviously it should be raining in the game, but what if a half hour into the game it stops raining and the sun comes out outside, will the same thing happen in the game (assuming this change is reflected in the forecast client)?

Doh, they lied to us.
So what's with this comment in the above article "It's all pretty easy, asking that you only set the game to read from the system client and upon starting the game..." Obviously, this is just a lie if it really doesn't work.

Confirmed by whom? EA? Or just confirmed by someone who owns the game trying it out?

Since the Wii Weather Channel is 4 to 12 hours behind in displaying the "current" weather, depending on the city, I don't think it would matter if it suddenly started raining. Anyone think that's something that will get fixed?

Looks like it's a false alarm if you read through all of the comments on GoNintendo.
NWF - WHO CONFIRMED THIS?

It's pretty sad when the commenters on a blog thread contribute more truth and research to the story than the actual author of the post. This particular post is hilarious. We go from the author claiming this feature is confirmed, to it being false, then to the commenters saying it's confirmed again by doing their own actual research. Why do we even read posts on this site if we have to do our own research to get the truth?
