Honestly, for us, one of the worst things about the Dreamcast was how the controllers had the wire coming from the bottom. Of course, one could push the wire up through the groove on the controller, but it shortened the already length-taxed cord available. We began to feel the same disappointment and fear upon seeing the Wii's Classic Controller, as well. But we are not alone! Someone else feels our pain and has taken it into their own hands to correct the issue, also providing step-by-step documentation on how they did it. They even say it takes all that of 5 minutes to do! Rock!
So, who is else is going to do this to their Classic Controller?

Meh, call me picky, but that modification messes with the aesthetics of the controller too much for my tastes. And besides, having the wire come out the bottom of the controller isn't as nearly impractical as it was with the Dreamcast controller because the wire on the classic controller goes to the Wii Remote, which can be placed anywhere.

Uhh, am I the only one who likes it there? Especially since the remote is likely laying in my lap, it seems perfect.

Surely a proper fix for the wire problem would be to hack the controller so it is wireless. This wire moving buisiness seems a little half-assed.

The biggest issue with that hack is that it is then very easy to pull the cord out of the controller entirely, which is not cool.

I fail to see why it's a problem for it to come out the bottom. Hopefully that mod won't interfere with future add-ons to the controller if they ever do come out.

Am I missing something? The wire coming out of the top makes sense when said wire is reaching across the room to a game console. If the remote is down at your lap or by you, then the cord coming out of the top of the CC should be equally annoying as it coming out the bottom of the Dreamcast controller. Are these people setting their remotes down next to their Wii and wondering why the cord doesn't come out of the top?

Yeah I'm not getting why everyone's knee-jerk reaction to the controller is "the wire shouldn't come out of the bottom." Obviously the designers did it for a reason, that being the fact that you are going to have the remote near you for the most part (As already pointed out.) It was a little bit odd on the Dreamcast, but then they did provide a little clip for the wire to go out of the top of those controllers.
Even then I can't see how it just SO annoying that you need to 'mod' your controller.
