Red Kawa has come up with a pretty sweet idea. They decided to turn the Wii into a media center, allowing those with the guts and gumption to attempt installing Wii Media Center X the satisfaction of streaming music, videos and images to their Wii. They offer a tutorial section for some of you that need your hand held, as well.We haven't given the program a spin, but by the looks of it, it's all a fairly simple process. Has anyone out there taken a stab at using Wii Media Center X? Happy with it, or do you find yourself disappointed?

I am impressed with this, but the alpha is VERY alpha - no mp3 support yet, most videos need converting, and video ALWAYS freezes after a few minutes... But hopefully the next release gets closer to the idea!
Woohoo, first ever comment written on my Wii!

I tried it a bit too. If you have to convert them, it's pretty much useless. One can hope it changes later.

Check out Orb instead -www.orb.com- as it requires no converting of music and video files. Granted, the interface is not as slick, but it has way more features.

I used it... doesn't work very well yet, explaining why it isn't a final release :-) it was pretty interesting.. though today I did something a Wii bit more fun... I remotely controlled my PC from my Wii. I enjoyed it~

Looked realy nice and promising, but once you start using it to watch some movies you will notice it has some problems handeling them. Most of the time a movie longer then 5 minutes (or sometimes even shorter) gets cut off. (The server stops providing the video.) And it doesn't run smooth all the time. Interesting idea very poorly execute imo. Works fine as long as you only browse folders but once you start using music and video's it turns buggy.

I'm using Weezo for this (http://www.weezo.net).
The interface is not very slick on the wii due to the small screen rez but it does the job (on-the-fly conversion and so on).
There's a lot of other modules to play with also.
