The above picture surfaced over at Go Nintendo yesterday, revealing what many in the comments section are calling the Wii's internal clock battery, which allows the Wii to keep accurate time even when it is not plugged into a wall socket. We're surprised to see the battery revealed so late in the game, as we know Nintendo fanboys always go over every inch of their console.

Yeah, it's amazing no one opened that earlier.
What about the Gamecube? Did that use a battery to keep the time? If not, how? I've never seen a battery cover on my Gamecube.

Um.. It's nothing that new, it's already been there and seen in those videos where they dismantle the Wii. Shock! the company that makes DS lite cases made a video for it and it can easily be found on YouTube.

Nobody's said anything about it because nobody cares. It's a battery. Your computer's got one for keeping time too. Nobody brings it up until it becomes a problem.

lol ya I was like "uhh I already found that". I didn't know what it was, but I was like wtf? Also you can screw the black part on the GameCube ports off, and below it is white. So you could keep it white, or paint the black thing. Just thought I would say.

I was about to take that off the other day but didn't feel like getting up to find a screwdriver that small. I was hoping it would be a usb port or something for a stand that also works as a hardrive. Wii needs an MMORPG, a pokemon MMORPG.
