There's a new trailer for Sonic and the Secret Rings tucked away on Sega's American site, and though this may strike you as a surprise, it's filled with Sonic himself speedily racing through levels and -- wait for it -- collecting rings. Bombshell, right?
Okay, so not really. But it's a fast-paced little bit of blurry blue action and definitely worth a watch. And maybe it's just because this particular blogger has been grinding it out with the Wii's Downhill Jam and similarly speedy fun, but this really looks like it could be a blast. We know the pantheon of Sonic titles are a bone that gamers like to gnaw in friendly
And we apologize, but there's no embedded video, so you'll have to head over to Sega's site for the trailer. While we hate to do that to you, we can at least promise that this one is child-free.

If this game turns out to be as much fun as Sonic Rush is, then I'm hitting it up. No questionable doubt.

Sonic is looking better and better everyday. If they're outdoing themselves on the Wii Sonic as much as it looks like they are, I'm going to be pleased. This might be a big slap in the face as well to hardcore owners of the 'other' more powerful consoles if Sonic ends up being better on the Wii. I'm personally already liking the graphics/style a LOT better on the Wii. IMO, Sonic Team just tried to hard to make Sonic more realistic looking on the 360/PS3 and it really hurt it visually. Call me crazy, but Sonic just isn't meant to be incredibally realistic looking.

Sonic has yet to make a truly great transition to 3D... so I'm not expecting much. (Especially after the trainwreck that is Sonic on the 360!)

I nearly vomited in disgust after playing the free Sonic demo on Xbox 360. I don't have much confidence in Sega when they make a 3D Sonic game. However I still have reason to hope for the best. IGN's Mark Bozon got a hands-on back in May at E3, and said:
"it controls like the 2D version did, while still providing a 3D feel". Cool.
"It feels natural and controls are astonishingly tight compared to some of the other demos around. Compared to other 3D Sonic titles in the past, this one is really no contest". Awesome.
Okay... *fingers crossed*

It looks to me like they have again made the fatal misteak of having the camera not stay directly behind Sonic. This is the same problem that has on and off plagued Sonic and Tomb Raider and others. Hell, its annoying in Twilight Princess. Keep the damn camera behind me and give me the option to move it if I want. That simple.
