Taken from a recent issue of Gamepro magazine, Metal Gear guy Hideo Kojima said the following things when asked about HD gaming and the possibility of working with the Wii. Given the past (Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes), we think the possibility of a Kojima project, whether it be Metal Gear related or not, is good.
What kind of project would you like to see from Kojima on the Wii? Maybe a port of Metal Gear: Portable Ops or perhaps a brand new IP?

Oh, I would love Portable Ops. As it is I'm going to have to finally pick up a PSP just for Portable Ops. Unfortunetly Portable Ops is a part of the storyline I've been waiting years to find out about.
Although another part of me would like to see something entirely original, plus I would be upset if they ported over the game without any graphic upgrade. I will just sit and wait and see what Kojima has in mind. I surprisingly have a lot of faith in him to bring something truly interesting to the Wii.
On a side note, this all reminds me of Silicon Knights. Just as we have to wait for MGS4 to come out on PS3 before we can get anything, we have to wait for three games of Too Human before any possibility of getting Eternal Darkness 2. Bummer!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Wii is perfect platform for the home-console Boktai game! Why? The weather channel, of course! If they can work out a way to have it better updated, at least.
Just imagine... in this game, you would play as an immortal, who cannot stand sunlight, or is at least more powerful without it shining on you. Therefore, instead of forcing you to practicaly only play the game when it's bright and sunny, it can use the weather channel to make sure you're not allowed to play when it's nice out. Maybe add a message "Why are you trying to play a video game anway, it's beautiful outside! Fly a kit, play sports, don't sit on your lazy ass all day!"
...yeah, I found the main gimmick of the Boktai games a little annoying (if not just an impedement to an otherwise great game).

@ Author X, so you're going to have it rely on ForeCast Channels WORST feature (it does everything fine BUT tell whether its sun or moon)

This is the same Kojima that a couple months ago said that he didn't expect it to ammount to anything. I forget what he compared it too. But this is a good thing none the less Wii needs good third party games.

Kojima wasn't involved in the Twin Snakes. It was a remake handled by Silicon Knights remember?

That seems like a huge turn around from his initial comments on the system. Perhaps some more in depth time has given him further ideas and desire to create for the system. I don't envy having to create such a beast of a game with hugely high expectations riding on it.
He does sound pretty darn excited about it, maybe we'll see a number of Wii games from him (Though, if he only starts a Wii game AFTER he finishes what he's currently working on, probably won't see any titles from him in 2007)

@3: Yes. Yes, that is EXACTLY what I meant, seeing as that entire post was made totally in earnest. After all, I just LOVE when a game tells me when and where I am and am not allowed to play it! In addition, there was no sarcasm in that post, or this one, either.
Seriously, though? It was kind of obvious to me from the first announcement that the only 'practical' purpose to go through the trouble of the forecast channel was to allow games to access it. Of course, they could just approximate weather based on daily conditions, but that's not the point of the above post. It was not an in-depth analysis of the shortcomings and possible work-arounds of the Forecast Channel - nope, there's a whole different blog post for that.
The point was that I complaining about a minor annoyance from a game series I still enjoy, one which was fixed in more recent installments. In other words, no point at all.

Is portable ops really port-able? (hehe)
We (wii) need a Kojima, a man who really loves game DESIGN to design some original games and original IP for the wii. I mean, Metal gear is fantastic but I'd rather see kojima set his mind to something new. Not necessarily radically different, but leave the snake alone now.
