It must be video day around here. This time, it's snippets from Wii Play, courtesy of IGN, where they have a load of new movies from the successor to Wii Sports. We've included two after the jump -- the crazy cow racing and a somewhat lackuster round of table tennis. We're really dying to see a good long volley, but it looks like we may have to wait until Wii Play is nestled in our own Wii. Oh well! Until then ... videos! Check 'em out after the jump.Table Tennis

That's weird, Wii Play came out the the Nintendo Wii in France december 8th. By the way, it's kind of a boring game ; the kind of game you should enjoy only if it's free one like Windows's games.

I've gotta join the crowd here and say don't get too excited you guys.
Wii Play comes across as a bunch of activities to get you familiarised with the remote and nothing more. Trust me - Wii Sports is where it's at.
If you insist on holding your collective Stateside breath, wait for Warioware - it won't be as much of a letdown.

Well over Christmas, I decided to use my Wii as the main entertainment (aside from the food and drinks) and I had 3 games:
Rayman Raving Rabbids, Wii Sports and Wii Play. The most popular was Wii Sports but then the next most played game was Wii Play (my brother inadvertently unlocked all the games so they were all available to play).
I have to say, for the newcomers to console gaming these games are very appealing and probably the most attractive. Probably because they are easy to play and don't require alot of adaptability to 20 different buttons.
Imagine playing the table tennis game with a GameCube controller! Not my cup of tea at all.
Can anyone suggest any other Wii party games (currently available of course) for the Wii?

Honestly guys it is NOT the succesor to wii sports, do not pay cash for it, if its bundled with remotes in the US then fine get it play it once and realise how it is a bad rush job of mini games with no lasting appeal. The only kick i got out of it was that my mii's had real hands and arms and would change their smiles to frowns when they lost.

Definitely not the successor to Wii Sports, it makes itself clearly out to be a training app for the Wiimote with which it should be bundled. That said, the shooting game is fun and I enjoy playing it 2 player by myself and seeing which hand wins... I'm ambidexterous... it's interesting... really...

They're not really good and have a lot of depth, but they can be fun in the multiplayer mode (especially Shooting Range and Tanks). Cow Racing's controls are awesome, however, only one track is available and you get bored quickly. Still, quite good for 10$. :)

Played it through once... didn't bother playing again.
Some of the same were alright and pretty fun, but it's by far no Wii Sports. Sorry to spoil your dreams.

Word was that Wii Play would be bundled with a remote for $50. As hard as it is to come by extra remotes, I'd imagine a lot of people would pick it up just for that. When you consider Wii Play a $10 game it doesn't look too bad.
Besides Wii Sports, I've found Madden to be a great two-player game, and Bomberman 93 was a great buy for $6 - already 15 hours played on that with 5 players.

@10 -- That's what it looked like. Not a lot of skills. I figure I'll get this for the extra Wiimote, as we've been putting off getting that last one for a while.
And by volley here, I don't mean the actual shot, but referring to a long series of continuous back and forth without someone failing. I see a lot of failing in the video.

I still say Nintendo should heavily market the pointer game, thus making it look like another duck hunt, which would sell through the roof

Its a bunch of minigames that comes cheap with a Wiimote. Most of the games will be played once and thats it, but the laser hockey, shooting and billiards are ok. Then theres fishing, tanks and the cow racing which are passable, and then the table tennis and Mii games, one posing and moving the characters and another where you have to pick out pairs in a crowd, which are garbage.

Uk, so as said above I got it at launch.
This really is a terrible game it is just about worth the £5 extra you pay for it (on top of seperate remote price) but deffintaly no more, I played it properly once to unlock all the games (which took about 10mins) and then have only dragged it out a couple of time since to play the duckhunt/shooting one and charge (cow racing).
DO NOT pay more than £5 for it!

lol im watching these vids on my wii. And im sure no one is expecting Wii Play to be the next Twilight Princess they just want another WiiMote with a pack in game for dollars more. Wiiplay sounds like replay which is what it is ment for.

Holy moly! When are we going to get a Wiimote-centric game with some complexity???
(No, Zelda doesn't count -- the Wiimote adds to the game, but it can be played without one (on the GameCube version))
