An account of a recent visitation from his parents, Livejournal user zubkavich tells of his father and mother's love of the Wii. In hooking in the seniors with its intuitive, pick-up-and-play nature, Nintendo's estimations of appeal to seniors is true, at least with this family.
Have any of you out there hooked in parents, grandparents, or other 'grey gamers?'

Absolutely. I play bowling with my parents, 55 and 58 years old, almost every night and recently I visited my 83 year old grandfather and got him hooked. It was great. He even used the wrist strap!

First one to play the Boxing (Wii Sports) here was actually the grandma of the kids. She was laughing and swinging her arms around, I was just sitting and laughing. After that my son had to show her how to really fight ;)
Would not be surprised to hear this happening a lot, people who would never think about playing a console game, just tries it because the kids say they should. Not sure if this will sell more consoles but might make more people accept the consoles and that kids can have fun playing.

Yeah, my dad (just turned 60) is searching desperately to find a Wii. In fact, when I was showing him mine over Christmas he was dead set on getting one long before he ever even saw a second of gameplay. I guess I really wowed him with my mad Mii creation ability....

My mother-in-law asks me to bring the Wii to every family function (both Thanksgiving and Christmas so far), and proceeds to school everyone in Wii Bowling. She's awesome. I still haven't bested her top score (271). Similarly, my dad got his first taste over Christmas and found himself totally immersed. He kept making elated exlaimations and then adding, "if this were a real game, that is...". It's great. My mother, a middle school science teacher, is planning a series of classes for her eighth graders about the science behind the Wii. Needless to say, the older generation in my family loves it!

I hooked my whole family. I took it to each of my Christmas events and everyone tried it and loved it. My mom is looking for one, but sadly they are still hard to come by.

I got my mom to try it out and she liked it. I heard her talking about it with her to her friends on the phone. I don't want to really play anybody old becuase I would own them no matter what, but I think it would be cool if the "older" audience got more into it.
