Perhaps some of you are reading this article via your smartphone, waiting in bitter cold weather because you're sick and tired of not having a precious Nintendo Wii. We understand. Tomorrow's deluge of Wii's, which should be occurring at many nation-wide outlets (Best Buy, Target, and Circuit City all seem to be proper candidates), may make many people quite happy. It may make many people really, really pissed off.
While you might be willing to spend whatever it takes, we have a bit of thrifty advice. First off, EB Games is taking your soon-to-be-completely-worthless Gamecube as fifty dollars of trade-in credit for a Wii. Normally, they only give twenty-five. While EBG and Gamestop have not been officially confirmed as having units available for tomorrow, it's worth a phone call (why would they advertise such a deal if it were impossible to use?). Also, it seems Tower Records is having a massive sale, with 25% off of pretty much everything, including games. Pick 'em up cheap! And good luck, troopers.
[Thanks, Dave and Vincent!]

Here in Canada, today was our release day.
I have to say that there was quite a fiasco, as I waited in line for quite a while, only to find out (upon grabbing a Wii box) that they had actualyl sold all of their units LAST NIGHT.
Its also worth noting that there where several occasions which these people could have TOLD us they had none - it was fairly obvious that with 20 odd people standing outside, that this was, indeed, what we where here for.
I, however, managed to keep my cool and not injure anyone on my way out, however, Future Shop has fallen out of my good graces because of that. It was truly a stunning example of "stupid people".
I hope i manage to get one soon - im dying here. Especially after coming so close today.
Good luck everyone.

You can use your gamecube mic on the Wii. It has two gamecube memory card slots. It should plug right in one of those.

Stayed home, slept late, kept warm. I hope all those who flocked to the stores last night don't get sick as a result. This is sheer stupidity.

I know they're hard to find, but they shouldn't have put out an ad starting today for a trade-in offer they can't honor. They might be trying to bait-and-switch, but if you do that enough it starts to drive customers away.

I didn't even want the Wii, I snagged one before Xmas. I was trying to trade in my SP for a DS Lite. Called eight stores in my area, not ONE of them had a single Lite in stock. Give me a break.

Got to my local Best Buy at 4:30am. Thanks to my positive attitude, some cool guys in line, and my wife bringing me donuts/chai, it was actually pretty fun. It was a little obnoxious to have gotten there that early (I was 4th in line) only to have somebody actually drive up just as the guy was passing out vouchers (45 of 'em), but being secure in the knowledge that I was finally going to get one made it worth it.
Enough of this chit-chat... back to the games!

Even though I got a Wii today, I may still get a Gamecube. Know why?? The GBA adapter. How else are you going to play your GBA games on a television?? So I'll be playing all the Wii and GC games on the Wii, and using a GC as a GBA player.

How will I be playing GBA games on a television? Use XBoyAdvance on the Xbox of course.

Got it from Gamestop today and traded in my Gamecube. Regular trade in for Gamecube seems to be $20, so I got $30 extra credit for it. Called up and when I asked how many they had, he said, "We've got enough." Turns out I got the third-to-last one they had.
Seems Gamestops only got around 10 each, while the local Target got 24, Circuit City got 20, and Best Buy got 40. Best Buy's ad this week for my area said "minimum 20 per store." though I'd guess they're all sold out by now.
