That's right. Super Paper Mario, a positively charming title once scheduled for the Gamecube, has been confirmed by the latest issue of Nintendo Power for an April release. The game, which will use the controller retro-style (read: on its side) to emulate that classic Mario feel, will use the A button to flip-flop between the 2-D and 3-D perspectives. Truly, we haven't seen a game of this particular dimensional scope since Yoshi's Story! For a bit more information on the title, check here. Also, Mario Party 8, the first Wii entry in the seminal series, will be dropping on March 5th, according to Nintendo's official site. Along with Sonic and the Secret Rings, March and April are actually turning out to be some decent months for the little white box. With Wario Ware: Smooth Moves this past month and Wii Play on February 12th, we're set for awhile. You?

I'm so glad Nintendo hasn't dropped Super Paper Mario. I've been looking forward to this title since it's quiet announcement. I was afraid it got scrapped when nothing else was said about it after the wii was released. This is one my credit card is itching to pay for.

I'm with pr0vidence - I was just about to give up hope on this title... glad it's finally seeing the light of day!
Man, Spring is going to be expensive.

Are you still talking about Wii Play as some kind of big hitter game? It's a $10 pack-in which comes with a controller. :')

Agreed with Marc. Let's just give up on Wii Play already. Our PAL friends were nice enough to confirm it was shit a while ago.
Lots of love to Nintendo for throwing us Paper Mario.

Nintendo has learned their lesson from the GameCube.
The winter and spring months after the GCN's launch were positively barren, as were the winter and spring months after Metroid Prime's Christmas launch.
Many serious gamers sold their Cubes after they played through Metroid and embraced their PS2s and Xboxes, never to return. Not even Zelda: Wind Waker could convince them to stay. I remember a Penny-Arcade comic about this very thing happenning to them.
Nintendo's plan to stagger the releases of Wario, WiiPlay, Super Paper Mario and Mario Party is proof that Nintendo doesn't intend to let that happen again.

WiiPlay is not very special. It has a few good games like pool, shooting and the cow race, but the rest are boring!

What Nintendo needs to do is start pumping out some online enabled games. I love my Wii, but it would just be so much better if we could play some Mario Party 8 online.
I mean, I almost assumed that Mario Party 8 would be online. Online games started LAST gen, and Nintendo still doesn't have a decent online game for a console (hardly even one for the DS, too) and we probably won't have one until Metroid Prime 3 comes out.
I'm still

I think half the fun with Mario Party, is having friends in the room with me while I beat them at almost everything.
Online just wouldn't be very fun if you ask me... at least for mario party.

Well I bet Mario Party 9 will be online. They do pump out the Mario Parties pretty fast. I just got my girlfriend Mario Party 7 in November, so we're not ready for 8 yet anyway. But this Super Paper Mario looks awesome. I hope the OG Paper Mario comes out on the Virtual Console before then so I can play through that first.

I agree with Ken. I'm totally for online games, but in this case mario party just wouldn't suit. Imagine those simple mini games people get so worked up over in the previous mario party's. Now imagine being by yourself playing these simple games with total randomers that you can't shout at.

I've been waiting for Super Paper Mario forever! Thank goodness it's finally about to come out. All I need to do is get a Wii. Sadly, I don't have one yet.

Does anyone know about online multiplayer for Mario Party? It seems like this would be one of the easiest games for them to get their online feet wet. What about online multiplayer for super smash bros?
