Now, you could very well be questioning many things right now, most importantly the title of this post. Trust us, we did not know either upon receiving the press release in our inbox, however upon further inspection we found that using Wiimotes and a PC to DJ (dubbed Wiijing by the fine folks who sent us the mentioned press release) is actually quite fascinating, although at times appears to be fake. So all of you tech/music junkies, pay attention to the video that has been embedded past the post break.
What do you guys think? Fake or not?

One of the promo clips they kept showing for the Wii before it was released was a few guys playing "drums" with 2 remotes, which is along the same vein as this. I think these ideas definitely have potential for some very cool rhythm games -- think Elite Beat Agents but with various movements instead of poking dots. I love the idea of a game using 2 remotes instead of the remote and nunchuck. Oh, and I REALLY enjoyed the 45 seconds of nothing at the end of the video -- guess the wiimote isn't configured to "set end trim point" yet :)

lol loving the comments... the all kinds of retard one cracked me up... i'm the guy behind dj wiij, and yes its all real.. i did "over" exaggerate some of the movements (my attempt at dancing), and infact the only motion sensing i used was for the intial flickstart of play..the rest of the mixing was done by pressing the buttons....

The video is definatly not fake, but its hardly "REAL" in the sense of DJing.. There are a few issues with the way the system is set up that makes it more complex to do simple techniques.
Sure you can use Wiimotes to control Traktor, but until you can use them to search your tracklist (instead of loading the next song from a pre-selected playlist), or control volume/crossfaders in a simpler way, you are much better off using a midi controller.
A viable use of technology, yes. But its not anything more than a gimmick.
