No, no, I appreciate the "Hey, that's a motion we can sense!" impulse, but there is a huge difference between swinging the remote up and down and smacking the bongo. They damn well better have support for the GC bongos, is all I can say. If they don't, they really need to not try to do the same controls as Jungle Beat with the wiimote and nunchucks used like drumsticks, and give it better controls. Having played Jungle Beat and Super Monkey Ball, Banana Blitz, I can assure you that the jerky wrist-flicking motion isn't close to as fun as actually smacking physical bongos (which, after all, is where the fun came from anyway).

Alright, in case my above post seemed disproportionately angry, I read the above article as though Matt had actually stated that it had been confirmed the nunchuck set would be used instead of bongos. For the record, referring to idle speculation in a brief blog post as "doing away with rumors" is extremely misleading... it wasn't even a rumor. Replace "But I don't think so. Why? You've got the bongos already: the Wii remote and nunchuk."

If you read his blog carefully, Matt isn't saying that the game won't allow for the use of bongos - he is just saying that Nintendo won't be re-releasing bongos for this game since the Wii remote and nunchuk will work just as well.

For a rhythm game like this where the nunchuck's analog stick isn't really needed, I'd like to see an option to be able to use two remotes instead. It would feel much more like drumsticks, and you wouldn't have that pesky cord flippin' around.

Having drummed my way through Rayman's musical features, I'd think that real bongos would be better, but I've never used them before.

As has been said, using the nunchuck/remote are not a suitable replacement. Part of the technique of playing with real bongos/congas is using the elasticity of the drum head to prep you for your next strike. You "bounce" your hands on the head of the drum.

It can use both. Similar to the way you can play Donkey Konga with the GCN controller.
