You could simply turn on the unit and check for yourself, but that would mean depriving yourself of that hypnotic glow that fills your soul with abject bliss. No, come to us instead! We will keep you well-informed.It's nothing earth-shattering, alas. Nintendo simply sent out a responsible message to all Wii-owners about the original pack-in wrist straps, still the subject of much debate. Along with a friendly reminder not to be a retard, the message also directs gamers to a website at which they can exchange their puny straps for the beefy, meaty kind. We love when companies take responsibility for their mistakes, but sometimes, they take too much responsibility ... damn friend codes.

they should've made the link in the email clickable, then it could open up the browser, if you have it installed that is.

i really wish that the led light on the wii would always be lit when the system is on, it would have made for a great effect...i was hoping it would be that way since before it came out, alas, i was disappointed to only see a cheap flash of what i wanted when i switched the console on or off.

Yes, I just had to know why it was glowing, and then to find out that it is just a reminder to get better wrist straps. I was hoping for a new channel or something.

I too was like "Sweet, new firmware!"
But no, info I'd already seen.
Oh well, it awoke me from my stupor long enough to make me remember to go and fetch my laundry.
Thanks, Nintendo!

I'm hoping the next firmware upgrade gives us two new options:
1) Always On Slot Glow - slot pulsates when Wii is on, stays a steady faint glow when in standby
2) Auto Download of Future Upgrades - firmware upgrades and free channels download by themselves, only ask to install upgrade when system is next turned on

I don't know, i don't think we'll be seeing another firmware upgrade for a LONG time, i mean, what else could they add to the firmware?
Future channels will simply be downloadable off the Shop Channel
The only future firmware upgrade i can see is an upgrade to 720p (which the chip is most likely capable of doing, it just isn't capable of rendering enough polygons to make that look good)

I don't mind the lack of glow on my Wii. The light would annoy me if it was always-on during gaming. And it's actually woken me up once when I got a message(It's in my bedroom)

I had known about the wrist straps for a while, but I didn't think I really needed to replace it. Today, when Nintendo sends a message, my brother broke a wrist strap (and now there's a big mark on the Wiimote), so I need a new one. It's a weird coincidence.

*sigh*
Mine wasn't glowing.
...which means that, once again, my Wii shat out my wireless connection.
