The official Japanese Wii site has updated with a new Fire Emblem video that is bound to bring a smile to the face of even the coldest and most hardcore among us. The girl test-driving the game -- classic controller in hand -- demonstrates exactly how we tend to feel when caught up in trying to puzzle out the details on Goddess of Dawn: enthralled and focused, with a slight dash of WTF. The game releases in Japan later this week, and we've got our fingers crossed for more footage. To see the video, just head over to the Wii site in the source link.

Path of Radiance took forever

Seems like will be a lot more fun with the motion-sensing.

Why are Japanese Fire Emblem commercials always like that?
And who seriously would play a game like that girl is?

I'm terribly disappointed in the lack of pointer function. It's such an obvious and simple inclusion, why not use it?

I thought it would be a good idea to link to a picture of all the control options.
Yes, it lacks pointer functionality, but it really wouldn't make much difference in a Fire Emblem game.

Why wouldn't it make a difference? The Wiimote seems like a perfect control option. I don't mean waving the thing around, but point and clicking..y'know, using it like a mouse.

I'm with you guys. It seems they have left out the next step step in controls for games like Fire Emblem. Point-and-click would have been perfect.
Hopefully they will add this soon, if not I will be a bit disappointed, they had the chance to upgrade the controls in a game that would go perfect... and they didn't.

Really simple controls. You use only the A button, B trigger, and the d-pad. You don't even have to point it at the screen. And you can play with one hand! Now I can finally play Fire Emblem while drinking a beer! Hurray!

I don't think pointer functionality would help much with a fire emblem game, they're designed too well around the d-pad already.
It's like Advance Wars:DS - sure, you could use the touch screen if you wanted, but it was much quicker to just use the d-pad.

^^^^^ Exactly, Zelos.
Touch screen control for Advance Wars DS was not nearly as precise or easy as normal button control, and I'm sure it would be the same way with point-and-click control for Fire Emblem on Wii (it's basically the same game as Famicom Wars, anyway). At least some developers are realizing a Wii game doesn't NEED motion controls.
