Nintendo released a single screenshot of Monolith Soft's Disaster: Day of Crisis, the natural-disaster survival game announced at E3 2006. We now have our first indication of how the game will play-- that arrow suggests a Quick Timer Event. Whether that means an action/adventure game with occasional quick-button-press segments, or a Dragon's Lair-style game, we don't know. What is surprising even to us is that we're kind of hoping for the latter. We miss those laserdisc games! Are we the only ones?

Hmm, would this be a similar gameplay style to Shenmue II or Indigo Prophecy?

Yes, I think you guys are the only ones hoping for a modern day Dragon's Lair style game.=) If that's something you're looking for, I recommend simply purchasing Dragon's Lair for your cellphone.
Those games just don't have the length or depth to justify a $50 purchase. While that's probably just a reflection of the fact that most of those games are arcade ports, does anyone really want to go through a couple of hours of that style gameplay needed to make a home purchase worthwhile?
I think having occasional segments of that sort of gameplay is fine, however. Based on the pic, with the camera "function" locked out in the lower right corner, I'm thinking that's exactly what this game provides.

so familiar... doesn't anyone else remember seeing this screenshot in an issue of nintendopower?
Oh well in the trailer I remember seeing the main character shooting at a person or car. I hope it turns out to be a good game.

when is it coming out? I know it's rhetorical, but the three games I was most excited about, that were supposed to be launch titles, are now nowhere to be found: this, Project HAMMER and MP3. Come on Nintendo, I want to throw money at you, just let me... :-)

I've never played Shenmue... but I know Resident Evil 4 had those type of cutscenes where you have to press a few buttons in order to survive. Good stuff, it makes you stay on your toes even during cutscenes.

Everytime i see this game it looks more and more to be rated M.
If it is, looks like they wont be getting much consumer support. I'm still holding out for a T rating.

I bought the Wii because I was fine with crap graphics, and this is definitely it. It needs shaders slapped everywhere.

wasn't there like 4 seconds of video in one of their many montages that showed this game being played as a third-person shooter? i think if anything its gonna be like RE4

Yeah, I know there's ZERO chance of this being an FMV-type game, but that would totally be something to talk about if it were.

I am wondering if this game is similar to an older PS2 game that was called 'Disaster Report'. That was an interesting game, but had a couple of flaws in gameplay.
Anybody know?

Nope. That one was developed by IREM (R-Type, Vigilante) and was called Zettai Zetsumei Toshi in Japan. There's a sequel coming out on PS2 soon in the US called Raw Danger.
This one is from Monolith Soft, developers of... Xenosaga.

Well in the trailer I saw a segment with the main character shooting at a car or a person, mabey this game will have a few elements of the "GTA" feel. I sure hope it turns out to be a good game.

Oh man, I loved the laserdisc games. Heck, I've been meaning to buy the DVD re-releases of the games since they play exactly the same, and I'm a sucker for nostalgia.

Awsome, I`m hoping it`s like Shenmue/Shenmue 2. I loved both and played them on dreamcast. I want to play a game lie that again, resident evil 4 might have some characteristics in this game too.
