Slated for a release on the Japanese Virtual Console service in March, Actraiser will be the first title offered up for the service by Square-Enix. They plan on brining other titles to the service, but honestly ... who cares? We're talking Actraiser here, people! If they give us Actraiser 2, we'll just have to hand in our letter of resignation and close up shop. That'll be it, our version of Utopia, where we can sit around all day in our bath robe and play as a winged god, finding our only nourishment to be the daily pizza delivery from our good friend Chad at the Pizza Hut (we'll be on a first-name basis with him by then). And no, we're not joking at all.

This is one franchise they should definitely get back to. Actraiser was a bit of a different console game when it was originally released and I have loved it ever since. Maybe a game before it's time. If you've never played this game, give it a try. Great mix of action and RPG elements, and the graphics are still up there for me.

Actraiser 2 would not be in my Utopia.
But ohhhh, Actraiser... yes.

Ah, now there is one of the games I have been waiting for. All I need now is a couple Phantasy Star games... That would be heaven.

People always hate on Actraiser 2. I admit that it wasn't as good as part 1 because it didn't have the town building stuff, but it was better than Actraiser 1 in the side scrolling action stages. It's one of the most beautiful games on the snes. I think people just hate on part 2 because they sucked too much to beat it.

Actraiser is good and all, but it pales in comparison to:
1. Final Fantasy 1-6
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Secret of Mana
4. Illusion of Gaia
..you get the idea. Square Enix is just getting their feet wet with the VC.

JP: I feel just the opposite way: I'm impressed that they started off right away with the best game either company ever made, instead of Final Fantasy stuff (which they're happy to sell to you over and over again for $30 anyway). Now all we need is Playstation emulation on VC so we can have the Bust a Groove games and Bushido Blade, and SE can retire.

I guess I didn't play a ton of Actraiser 2, but that's because the town-building in 1 was always my favorite part. When I first installed an SNES emulator on my PSP, Actraiser was one of the first games I tried. I played through the whole thing in a single day, it was so good. I owned the original cart back in the day, and it held up surprisingly well. If anybody out there hasn't played it yet, I think it's worth the price to try it out.
