If you're near a Best Buy store, gather up your $2 bills and get going, because they're in the midst of an epic videogame clearance, and you'll want to get there before the unscrupulous speculator types grab all the stuff to sacrifice to the ravenous eBay. You've got to be wily to get to the goods before the FatWalleters and the CAGs!There aren't any Wii games on clearance, but there are plenty of Wii-compatible Gamecube games. We've got a list of all the Gamecube software on sale after the break. Don't expect to find all of it-- most of it has been out of stock for months or years at most stores, and the price changed to clear out remaining copies. But we hope you do find what you're looking for in abundance. And we hope we can make it to Best Buy soon enough to luck into our own copy of Chibi Robo.

Holy crap, I'm there! I've been looking for GC games on the cheap to keep me busy for a while (Super Paper Mario can't come soon enough) - this looks great!

They should of posted this in the Joystiq page. Anyways, I heard about this yesterday and I'm planning to go today. No one knows about it here until I told them or they went to Best Buy today.

I see a couple of goodies on there. Any games of note that I should get since I skipped the Cube?
I've been looking out for Rogue Squadron III (for the co-op play), but can't seem to find it.
Off this list though, I'll look for:
Zelda-Wind Waker
Ultimate Spiderman (for $2, why not)
Metroid Prime Echoes

Ok here's the deal:
The list IS real. I even got to see Best Buy's official list on their computers. Nothing is marked so take a printout if you can.
The problem for me was that before I got there workers had already taken most of the games off the shelf. I saw at least half of these games sitting in a shopping cart. But they said they weren't for sale - they were "end of life" and had to be sent back to corporate.
Online is sold out, too.
So you can try, but I was only able to pick up Two Thrones, and I checked out only a few minutes after they opened. Bummer.

Over at Xbox360 site, there reporting a lot of the same issues. "No games to be found" or massive amounts of employees. Sounds like another typical bait and switch tactic from Best Buy.
I'll still head over there at lunch and see what I can find though :)

My local store had ZERO of the listed games. I think their employees gobbled them all up.

I just got back from hunting down some of these games at my local Best Buy and I am sad to say that the stock available was next to none. Not one game on that list was in stock, all they had was sports games and Movie to Video Game ports :(
It is a sad day for one to take an extra long lunch and come back empty handed.

I don't think I'm even going to try. However, I think this reaffirms my need to pick up Chibo Robo before it's too late.

It's not true!!!! (at least in Benton Harbor, MI) I went to the local BB around 1:00 and the girl said that she had 5 other people in there today asking about it. Don't know where this bullshit info came from, but I'm definitely going to research a little more next time I hear a deal that's too good to be true.

Just came back from BB and they had nothing on sale. They actually had some of these games in stock, but not marked down. I asked a sales person about it and he just said those were the right prices. But I did see a sales girl with a stack of video games (more than 5) and I heard her say she was buying them for her boyfriend. So I'm guessing they employees bought all the good ones.

@CygnusX-1 and ian,
It IS true. The shelf prices probably won't be changed, but I saw the Best Buy list ON THEIR COMPUTERS and checked out with Two Thrones for $1.99. I do not work for Best Buy or any other game store.
The bummer is that they really don't have enough stock for us to cleanup with this deal. I got up this morning thinking I'd get Luigi's Mansion, Mario Party 7, Pikmin 2, and a few others (see post 1), but nothing was really available. I tried to get Target to price match (they're right across the street where I live) but no dice.

But, i was in a Best Buy in Winnipeg and they were clearing out Odama with the Microphone for $9.99. They had tons of copies to clear out.

I also went to Best Buy just after they opened this morning and the labotomy patients that are employed there told me there was no sale on Gamecube games. It didn't matter because they didn't have any of the listed games anyway, there weren't even placeholders for any of them, so I'm guessing they were taken off the shelf before today; or the employees ate them all for breakfast. I may have taken the bait but I didn't buy anything there. Shady-ass hucksters.

Just so's you know, I hate you bastards and your clearance sales. We'd never see those sort of prices in Australia.
Seriously, that's just ridiculous and inspires such jealousy in me that I think I need to sit down for a while and remember that I'm skint and don't really like shopping much anyway...

Sketchy Fletchy,
Don't be jealous. Most of us never see those prices either. I didn't even bother going to check because I had read threads on this in the morning (I'm 3 hours behind the east coast) and saw most people didn't have much luck.
I thought about going for some GC games, but my Best Buy doesn't carry many (any?) GC games anyway.
