The Wii is, by far, the most stylish Nintendo-produced console ever made. It's sleek, minimalistic, and shiny shiny white (not pictured!). However, when being used as a Gamecube, there tends to be a loss of aerodynamic flow. Flaps concealing the GC circuitry must be lifted or removed; Wavebird receivers stick out at awkward angles, and those outdated things called wires might even get in the way.Do you guys leave your GC stuff in the Wii, ready for (slightly) retro gaming? Does the loss of form factor make a big difference, and is it worth it to pull out and put in equipment every time you load up one of those tiny discs?

I take out my wavebird receiver and memory card when I am done with a cube game, because I dont play cube games nearly as often as wii games, so they will be sticking out there for a week without any use.

I leave in the memory card and wavebird receivers because I still play Smash Melee a LOT. To me the absolute worst part about it is that the Gamecube controller ports are 1-4 RIGHT TO LEFT instead of LEFT TO RIGHT like it should be. I can't believe Nintendo did that. Hmmm, I wonder if that would be an easy mod.

I'll admit it, I'm lazy. Therefore, the Wavebird receiver and memory card remain sticking out the top.

I leave my wavebird connections and memory card in. Always find I am still in the mood to play some Mario Kart or VC games.

I can't stand how the top looks with anything sticking out. I take everything out when I am done with my GC games. Granted I do not play them a lot, but I have been getting into Windwaker lately.
My friend has an ideal setup though. His entertainment center has a lip that comes down in fromnt of where the Wii is. There is enough room to put the Discs in, but you cannot see the top of the Wii. He leaves his Wavebird receiver and memory cards in all the time.

I am hella conscious about how my Wii looks, dogg. Never mind the fact that it is perched atop a VCR on top of a broken cube fridge next to the TV. The Wii has got to look good all the time, so when I am done, the Wavebird and the Memory Card come right out.

they go front to back

you can push the home button on the Wiimote and click Wii menu

I left most of the items sticking out of the top for about a week before it started bugging me enough that I removed them. I keep all my Wii accessories in a decorative box on the shelf under my coffee table.
I'm trendy like that I guess...

Yay, I'm different!
I leave the memory card in at ALL times, because I'm lazy like that, so I took the mem card flap off.
The controller flap stays on, however, and I remove the controllers when I'm done and close 'er up.

i think nintendo should make a gamecube controller that can hook into the wiimote like the classic controler can, that way they could use the extra space on the top of the wii for future upgrades or modifications and the gamecube controllers will still work wirelessly like the wavebird.

I love the Wii, but there's been more GC games in it as of late. I don't mind the look at all. I've removed the flaps and I keep the GC memory card in, but maybe I don't mind because the Wii is horizontal and placed on top of my DVD player.
The Wii definitely looks sleeker without the GameCube-transformer look, but I'm glad Nintendo didn't sacrifice function for form in this respect.

I take the controller and mem card out and close the flaps when I'm done playing to prevent dust from getting in.
My cousin plays Gamecube games all the time on his so he just leaves it in. Plus he's got an air filter so there isn't much dust in his house.

I removed all the port covers, stand, and lay it on its side. Leave all the gamecub stuff plugged in.
Makes it look more utilitarian.

It's a pity that the Classic controller isn't compatible with GC games :(
I think it is my favourite gaming controller EVER!
I usually leave my mem card on the wii, but I take the controllers out and close the flap because my room tends to get a little dusty.

I had the awful disaster of girlfriend + Bomberman '93 + loads of gamecube pads = Wii falling over and smacking very loudly into the floor. I'd advise putting it on the the floor flat if you're having a multiplayer session. It doesn't look as nice but it won't fall over. My Wii is fine but my heart nearly lept out of my mouth.

I keep my gamecube card in the wii all the time because you have to put it in a certain way to get it to work, and it really does bother me the way it looks sticking out of the top... I've considered removing the flaps. I do really hate how the controllers stick out too, but it's not my first concern because I don't have Wavebirds...

I leave my Gamecube hooked up, sitting right on top of my NES. Pretty sleak Wii standing up beside them.

I leave mine plugged in, but actually I'm using it less than I otherwise would because the damn GC controller cords are so short. I have to stop by EB or some such and pick up a few extensions, so I can use the thing a bit more often...

To Worm, I think the reason it's backwards is because when it's sitting vertical, the ports are positioned correctly, left to right. But when you put the Wii on it's side (Which you obviously are doing) the ports are right to left. Wow, I didn't even think about it until you brought it up, since at first I had no idea what you were talking about! But I have my Wii standing vertically. Looks soooo much better than if it were on its side. But I know not everyone agrees, nor does everyone have the room.
Oh, ans as lazy as I am, I close and remove everything from the GC ports when I'm done. Wii looks better without all that open. Although you can remove the GC port flap, I must protect my baby from dust ... I must.

No you can't the Wii-mote shuts off in GC mode.
I usually pull everything out. I don't use my Wii that much at all really. The only games I have are these HUGE MASSIVE games that take forever to finish (Super Mario Sunshine, Zelda: TP, Metriod Prime 2 etc) and I just haven't been in the mood to play any of them recently. When the Godfather Backhand edition comes out, my Wii will be getting allot more attention though...

I actually keep the Wii hidden inside my entertainment center with my VCR and DVD player, so I don't care if the Wavebird controller sticks out, because nobody sees it. People only see the remote and the sensor bar, and that's all we really need to play Wii Sports. Of course, I crack the door open to play GC games with the Wavebird, but that's about it...

I wouldn't call the Wii uber-stylish. It definitely looks good in these images, but in person, I think that the white looks cheap and the boxy form factor doesn't help it stand out.

We tried Mario Party 6 on the Wii and this is what it looked like with the controllers and Mic attached

I wonder if there will be another Mic game in the new Mario Party?

The Wavebird is so ugly that I bought a wired "Shark" controller. This is why I didnt buy a Gamecube in the first place.
The Shark is a good looking controller, but its annoying to have to put the Wii on the floor closer to me. So I unplug everything after I'm done. The only Gamecube game I have is Lego Star Wars.

Hmm... I've never been bothered with how it looks. What bothers me is Nintendo never came out with an update that has rumble.
I leave wavebird/memory card in. I like being able to just sit on my couch, turn the system on with the wiimote, and get playing. I just wish I could navigate the home screen with my wavebird and get back to the home screen during a gamecube game without restarting.

I never had a GC and I've nowgot load a GC games to play on my Wii due to the lack of good Wii games. I'm loveing the games that i missed. I wire doesn't really bother me nor does the way a console looks, as long as it works(which my wii nearly broke last sunday, but that's another story).
